06/25/2020 - GIDEON BLUE - AMPS = 440 - Inc Lantus to 2U BID

Good Morning-

Since my boy has been living in the RED pretty much since diagnosis 6 weeks ago, we increased his Lantus this morning from 1.5 units BID to 2 units BID. We are hoping we see some improvement with this dose, which was the original dose prescribed by the vet.

I never increased by .50 so please get a +2 and +3 if you see a drop at +2.

Thanks Paula. Elise's post came through 45 minutes ago, which was too late to test +2, but I had already tested +3, and he was still very RED.

Depot has to adjust to the increase so it might take a cycle of two.

Yes, I would prefer to over test than not test enough, and miss a dip.
I just received my 5 Lantus pens from Marks Marine Pharmacy!!!! Wow!!!! They packaged it up on Monday, so it took 4 days, and thermometer inside styrofoam box was still blue! A far out 2022 expiration date too!

Good luck with the increase. It's not uncommon for cats to have to increase by 0.5 units in the beginning, until they get closer to a better dose. You can also get New Dose Wonkiness, that causes some temporary higher numbers in the first couple cycles as the depot rebuilds. All normal.

Yup....Gideon just hit a "Wonkiness" bounce and is 524 for his PMPS.
