It's been a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG time since I've been here: 12/2019, when Tiny Sole graduated OTJ and has been doing FANTASTIC ever since, all because of the love and support from the Lantus forum.

I'll be forever grateful for all the help I received.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a Hemp / CBD supplement for adult cats.
My vet wants to put one of our four cats on Prozac, and I'm not feeling that, so thought I'd turn to the Cat Hive here on the forums.

@Bobbie And Bubba , you will remember us, and a few others...this is the BEST forum in the world for those of us with furbabies who need help. Sending everyone love! XOXO, Joanne and Tiny Sole

There’s actually a CBD called Vet CBD. I got it for Minnie at a dispensary :cat:

Thank you, Aleluia <3
Can you tell me why Minnie uses it?
Did you need a prescription for it?
Is there dosing information on the box?
...lots of questions, my apologies.

My one baby, Cookie, has terrible anxiety issues. :( I would prefer something natural instead of Prozac, as I'm sure you understand.

It was suppose to be for pain before going for pain meds. There’s dosing info on the box no prescription needed here in Cali at least. I just mixed it with the food. It’s olive oil based so just know it can act as a laxative. Minnie looked a little out of it when I gave it to her but she wasn’t on it for very long because as much as it relaxed her, I didn’t think it was effective pain management. I think it could work well for Cookie and it’s worth a shot, but for 4th of July I still give her and Bobo kittie Xanax. They get too terrified otherwise :(

that small bottle was about $50 with a first time customer discount

Hi Joanne! I remember several peeps here recommending and saying that Charlotte’s Web was one of the best ones.

Glad Tiny is continuing to do well! I’m not on much these days. My mom has had some setbacks and Thursday she suffered a big stroke and was airlifted to Philadelphia and had surgery all within 4.5 hours of me calling 911.
She had a long and rough road ahead.; she lost her speech and right side weak. Ugh.

JMHO, I wouldn’t put my cat on Prozac. I would try CBD And even cat nip. My one cat Sug, GA was so mean to Bubba when he first arrived and I used to keep her stoned with the cat nip to calm her down. It worked.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I’m very sorry to heart that Bobbie. My mom went through the same thing. Stroke and emergency brain surgery. She lost mobility from the waist down and it was a long long road to recovery with speech and physical PT, but she had good quality life after even with all of that. Hang in there. Sending you and your family good thoughts

Mat I ask how old tour mom was when she stroked? My mom is almost 93 which goes against her for sure. I hope we can just bring her back home again.

There are a lot of meds for humans that are used successfully in cats and dogs. Ondansetron is one and so is Gabapentin. A lot of vets prescribe CBD oil to pets. It’s all about the dosage. Ages ago that’s all that existed. Human drugs had to be dosed for cats. Now there are pet specific meds, but it wasn’t always the case. Xanax can also be given to cats.

Please don't give this to your cat. there is a limit, Xanax, sertraline, Prozac? pot? there is a point when you have to say Goodbye...
