6/18 Help! I need amlodipine BP meds

My cat Ravan has High blood pressure & has been taking meds for about a year. I went to my vet a week ago to pick up his meds & to my shock I was told my Vet had retired 2 months ago.

It's a long story but the woman that does billing told me the new vet will not give me his meds till I pay a large bill. I told her I did not have that amount of money but I could pay every month. She refused & told me no meds till I pay the bill. I've been going to this vet for over 20 years & always paid my bills. This time I can only pay each month. This person that does the billing has given me trouble before. She's been there forever & thinks she runs the place.

Both Ravan & his sister have Kidney disease. Right now Alice is very sick. I think Ringers Lactate would help her & Ravan also. They would not even sell me that.

I called all day & all the vets want me to bring them both in to be checked. I cannot afford to do that.

Does anyone know if I can buy Amlodipine & Ringers Lactate online without a script?

Both are prescription items and no vet is going to dispense medications without seeing the cat or if they haven't seen the cat in a year. You might try contacting your local shelter and see if they offer low-cost veterinary care.

This is a link to low cost vet care in the Chicago area. I'm familiar with PAWS and Anti-Cruelty Society. I don't know their costs but they are reliable organizations. One of my former vets went to Tree House and they have an excellent reputation -- she was also a wonderful vet!

Thanks Sienne I've called every clinic in a 30 mile radius. The problem is I cannot bring the cats to a clinic.I had a "visiting" vet here a few days ago. My cat Alice is normally very calm so I thought this is great, $49 for the first visit.
When the woman came into the house Alice & Ravan ran & hid. When I picked Alice up she went totally crazy. Trying to bite & scratch.I put a towel around her & she was peeing & screaming trying to get loose. I decided it was just too stressful for her. I was worried she could have a heart attack! She's 18 yrs old & her 3rd eyelid is up, she's not feeling good at all. I believe the stress can make it all worse.

The vet agreed with me that we she leave her be. (I still had to pay the vet for the visit & she said because she didn't exam her she could not give me the prescription for the BP or the Ringers. ) Ringers is not dangerous,there shouldn't even be a prescription for it!

Ravan has been on BP meds for about 18 months . I have 3 days of Amlodipine left.
