I increased his dose to 5.5 this morning, so we will see where that takes us. So far doing pretty good - getting down to low numbers for him now though so making me nervous. Just gave him a teaspoon of ~11% carb FF Medley at +3.25 (BG 84). Gave another tsp of the same food at +4.25 (BG 69).

So I should hold this dose for 3 days & then go up if nothing changes? I’m assuming with the low numbers tonight he will probably bounce tomorrow.

If we start seeing blue/green consistently, then stay at this dose longer?

If we see some blue/green & then a bounce up to the high 300s & 400s again, do I hold for longer before increasing as well?

Also, dosing suggestion for the AM if still in green or blue since PM number were so low?? Skip or give smaller dose?

If he's eating any dry, you have to use the Start Low, Go Slow method which means reducing the dose if he goes below 90. Is he still getting the TikiCat dry? If not, then he would be eligible for TR which means he'd need to drop below 50 to earn a reduction.

On TR, yes, he could go up after 6 cycles but when cats are fairly new to greens and low blues, you may want to hold the dose for 8-10 cycles.

If you're home and able to test as much as necessary, you want to give the scheduled dose. You've shot when he was in low blues before but if you're worried about it, you can stall, don't feed and test again in 20 minutes to see if he goes up without food.

Any time you shoot a lower number than you're used to, it's a good idea to get a +1 and +2 so if you need to intervene you can do it early.

Any dose that sees green, we tend to hold for 10 cycles, not 6.

Looks like tonight was a bounce breaking cycle. That can cause some extra downward momentum. Hopefully Chandler has levelled off and will find greens again at this dose. Unfortunately you'll have to get another test it. High carb food can wear off after a couple hours and the numbers might drop again.

Lantus is great at keeping low numbers low and flat. That's why we encourage people to eventually become comfortable with shooting lower numbers. On the PM of 6/5 you shot a slightly reduced dose, the inevitable bounce happened and he was high the following preshot. With TR, people eventually learn to shoot anything above 50. You may not feel comfortable doing that yet, but you can work your way down there. You have shot low blues before.
