Don’t give up on hope of remission, it’s still a possibility. Blaze was diagnosed in August of last year, we did 10 months on insulin and now we are on day 8 of an OTJ trial. I never thought we would get here so I worked really hard to get Blaze tightly regulated, I was prepared to do this for rest of his life and just wanted to get him into good number. But he decided he wanted to try going off the insulin, so here we are. I know it’s hard, but start positive! It’s possible!
 
The rule of thumb for it being easier to get into regulation the first six months do not apply to acromegalic cats. You aren't trying to heal his pancreas, you are dealing with diabetes because of a pituitary tumour. You goal should be to try to get him as regulated as you can. Remind me again - did you give up on the cabergoline?
 
Such a handsome boye! Nova was Dx'd end of October. (nice scare on Halloween, right?) I am currently half way through month 7 & am finally seeing a change in Nova's #s. I know this is not a race, but a marathon, and that maybe Nova won't hit remission, but we still have a fighting chance. You do too.

Your hopes are NOT dashed. You have more on your plate than most...with the Acro Dx along with Ckd & a flare of pancreatitis to boot. BIG hugs to you for giving Maxi the best care you are giving. :bighug::bighug:

I see bits of hope sprinkled in with those yellows and pinks. Hold on to those and stay the course. :bighug::bighug: (and don't forget to take care of yourself) :) Maxi just may surprise you!

Yes, I gave up on the cabergoline.
I've found only one person who thinks it's working for her cat.
I looked for convincing evidence that it works, also posted on this site, tagged people who had used it, got no replies.
