Person with diabetes who has diabetic cat?

I woke up this morning wanting to pitch one of my national editors this story. I have thought about it before, and it feels like such an uplifting, positive topic to write about. I write for credible national human health publications, and do some pet content, too. (See www.stephaniestephens.com.) I also think such a story would go far to educate readers about diabetic kitties--always my goal. If this is you, hope you'll respond. Don't think this has been told before...Also an opp to write good things about this platform.
 
Hi Stephanie,
I've had T1 diabetes since 1979, and have an OTJ diabetic kitty. When the vet mentioned Lantus, I couldn't wait to share mine with Tina. Personally knowing how it feels to be both high and low, I felt a new kinship with my already favorite cat. I almost physically hurt along with her while she was so high.

Hey Steph, that's such a cool thing! We have 6 cats and got our first diabetic case now, so it's been a new challenge for us seasoned cat owners. A lot of our friends were surprised when they heard "diabetic cat". I think most people never realize that other mammals than us can get conditions like this, too. If you write that article, I'll send it to those friends of ours, ha ha ha! ^-^

my daughter is 5 years old and a Type 1 Diabetic. We actually adopted our Diabetic cat from the Humane Society recently. He had been there forever and nobody was adopting him. When we went there, he just called out to us and we knew it was meant to be. They share the same insulin and she talks to him about what it feels like when they are doing blood sugar checks and shots. She talks to him when he’s running high too. He’s actually become a therapy cat to her in a sense as she’s able to get her feelings out about diabetes when she talks to him. It’s a very special relationship.
