Just added them! Tell me if some important ones are missingCan you add these to your lab tab, please? I can’t read them. Thank you!!!
YesLooks like you're in the same boat as me. ThosE kidneys are such a weak spot for so many cats.![]()
Thank you. Yes, there’s a lot missing but the ones you want to be focused on for CKD are creatinine, BUN, phosphorus, calcium, potassium, and HCT. It looks like he’s pretty stable right now. As the HCT starts to creep towards 30%, you want to think about starting B vitamins.Just added them! Tell me if some important ones are missing![]()
Actually just ordered B right jarrowThank you. Yes, there’s a lot missing but the ones you want to be focused on for CKD are creatinine, BUN, phosphorus, calcium, potassium, and HCT. His phosphorus is nice and low so you want to keep it pretty close to there!
which binder are you using?Actually just ordered B right jarrow
Also he is on a blood thinner now praying it doesn't mess with his appetite. So if it does the b12 should help I guess.
Is his phosphorus too low? I give a bit of phosohorus binder to add to his food, that is pretty low phosphorus. But I mix with friskies so I don't go broke from always buying weruva. Haha.
Thank you very much!!![]()
Aventi kidney complete. Its not at aluminum binder but a calcium one if im not mistaken. That's all my vet hadwhich binder are you using?
Normally binders aren’t given unless the P level is approaching or over 6 unless they were over 6 and then came down. I do think his P is a bit low. You should discuss with your vet.Actually just ordered B right jarrow

I mentionned we would be buying b12 methycolbalamin with the blood thinner he didn't say not to use both but I can ask again to be sure. Before I only fed friskies which is high in phosphorus that's why I got the binder initially. Also I was told we want phosphorus to be on the lower side. But I don't know much about bloodwork. He is getting a bloodthinner because he had a possible saddle thrombosis or something ressembling it. Also his platelets are stuck together the vet said so he definitely recommend the blood thinner.Normally binders aren’t given unless the P level is approaching or over 6 unless they were over 6 and then came down. Why is he getting a blood thinner? I would discuss the B vitamins with my vet then because I do not know if there is any contraindications between blood thinners and B vitamins.
Of course, your vet would have an idea about whether the platelet clumping was abnormal or not but it’s not uncommon to see platelet clumping in cats due to the way the blood is drawn. However, a good lab would be able to tell whether the clumping is due to blood drawing or otherwise.I mentionned we would be buying b12 methycolbalamin with the blood thinner he didn't say not to use both but I can ask again to be sure. Usually binders aren’t started too early because CKD can stay stable a very long time and you don’t want to risk that a calcium binder could raise his calcium levels or aluminum hydroxide can cause aluminum toxicity . His P level does fall within the “goal” for phosphorus for CKD cats. I would discuss with my vet, now that you are feeding lower P foods, whether to see what it does without the binder or continue the binder. I’m not a vet so best to consult him.
