Good morning everyone. Starting the day at 347. I am working in the office all day today (10 hours) so no testing until I get home at nearly PM shot time.

I’m still trying to wrap my mind around Moe’s acro dx. Even though it’s not totally unexpected it’s still hard to hear the actual words. I have a lot of researching to do since my vet has never treated an acro cat.

I hope everyone has a good day and kitties are well.

Awww...sorry to hear about that diagnosis...but many here have heard those words and have been here for a long time. Lucky for you that you've found a group who can understand what you're going through and can offer support and information.

Hope your day at work is pleasant!

Sorry about the acro diagnosis. Remember Moe doesn't know anything is different. He is still his same loving self. I hope you come home to a lower number.

@Wendy&Neko is there a place where there is information on acro that Erin can read about it? Thanks.
Thanks, Carla. Love my baby boy! I’ve been posting in the acro forum and have gotten input from Wendy and others there. It’s just a little overwhelming at the moment, just like the diabetes dx was at first. But I will master it eventually!

i know you got this Erin. :bighug: There are quite of few of us who have stood in your shoes and more than willing to help. It is definitely overwhelming at first.

Paws crossed Moe breaks that bounce today.

Holy cow, Moe’s BG is 40 at +9.5. I’m so glad I came home from work. He’s not exhibiting any hypo symptoms, but he’s eating a bit of LC right now. Will check him again in a few minutes.

I wonder if I should back off a bit, from 8u to 7.5u?

I think I'd reduce. He's earned it by hitting that 40... per TR: If kitty drops below 40 (long term diabetic) or 50 (newly diagnosed diabetic) reduce the dose by 0.25 unit. If kitty has a history of not holding reductions well or if reductions are close together... sneak the dose down by shaving the dose rather than reducing by a full quarter unit.

I believe with your dose you're probably increase/decrease by .5, is that correct?

Yes I’m increasing by 0.5. Moe hasn’t had a reduction since last fall when he went OTJ, so I don’t know whether he will hold a reduction now or not. He’s got such wild swings that I’m worried he’ll go even lower when I’m at work and unable to monitor.

Good catch! Yes, definitely reduce by 0.5 units. You want to keep track of any extra food you fed today - I put details of how much, when in the Remarks section. What you did today was a good amount to get him up.

Do you think he’s okay to shoot 7.5 now? He’s pretty reactive to food so he will come up as he eats.

Depends on your ability to monitor. With high dose cats, one option is to shoot a BCS (1/2 or 2/3) dose tonight, to help drain that larger depot a bit, then go to his new dose tomorrow morning. Or he could bounce and be safe tonight. What do you think?

I’m not sure. In the past he’s always bounced up pretty high after a low/green. I’m home to monitor and have honey, MC and HC food available.
Maybe I’ll wait a few more minutes and check again. He’s just eaten another couple of ounces.

No worries, you still have to decide if you want to shoot his full new dose tonight. 72 to 70 is the same number, within meter variance. If you haven't fed yet, you could wait another 10-15, test again, and decide.

He’s already eaten about 2 ounces, maybe a bit more.

And I just tested again...77 with some food onboard. Maybe I’ll do a BCS.
