Good job Julie!! Now we have the information always there that we need.....all you have to do is keep the spreadsheet part updated. You don't have to re-enter the link or anything. As you add test numbers to it, they are automatically saved.

One thing I want to tell you about though. While this is the ProZinc forum, sometimes it can be a little slow in here. It's totally fine to post here but if you need someone's help quickly, you might want to post in the Health forum. It usually has more people active in there.

If you just want to post and let people know how it's going and don't need a quick reply or anything, you don't need to worry about it but I wanted you to know where to go if you needed an answer about something fast.

Chris goes above and beyond, helping people get their spreadsheets set up.

Looks like Bear is bouncing, from that skipped shot on 5/25/20 PM cycle.
Tests in the PM cycle, are just as important as the AM cycle. Not only the pre-shot test, but at least 1 more test in the cycle. I know it's harder to test at nadir during the PM cycle, but a "before bed" test is highly recommended.
 
The amps is at 5am United States, Oregon time and the next test is between 11&2 and the 5pm before he eats then I shoot. And then I'm in bed by 7:30 pm to repeat the cycle before heading to work in the morning.

You have several dose's listed as 3.9 and 4.1 in the PM "units" cell....how are you measuring that? Also, you don't have an entry at all for the last few nights in the PM "U" column.

It's important to get at least 1 "before bed" test every night so if you shoot at 5pm, try to get a test at 7-7:30....if the test you get then is lower than the PMPS test, you may need to set an alarm to get another test in later in the cycle.
 
I just realized I forgot to fill in the pm units and I'm sorry for the confusion. I'm not sure of the measuring of the evening 3.9&4.1. I was measuring just barely under 4 or barely above 4. After reading through the prozinc insulin forum I realized I'll just keep it at 3 because 4 was dipping him way low. I've been getting consistent readings leaving him at 3. I believe I started 3 days ago. Sorry again for forgetting to fill in the unit cells for the pm.

Yes, at a minimum.
The pre-shot tests, to make sure your cat's BG levels are high enough to give insulin in this cycle in the first place.
The mid-cycle tests to see how low a particular dose drops your cat. You need to know this, so you know when to adjust the dose.

All our dosing protocols are based on the low or nadir. Not the pre-shot tests.

I am doing a very early am when I get up for work in the morning, then I get home at the beginning of the afternoon, then I test again in +4hrs. before PMPS, feed, shoot. Then test +2hrs. When I head to bed.

There were 3 PMPS I forgot to fill in, I Chris and China aware of what I did.

Julie, I think you are as tired and exhausted as I am.
Because what you said here simply confused me. My brain isn't processing it correctly.

I am doing a very early am when I get up for work in the morning, then I get home at the beginning of the afternoon, then I test again at the PMPS cell, then feed then shoot. Then you want me to test again as I head to bed. So basically I am up at 4:30 in the morning test, feed then shoot before I head to work. I usually get off at 2pm run home and do the afternoon read and then at 5-5:30 I test again, feed and shoot for the PMPS cell. And then I head to bed by 7-7:30 in the evening.

So get that 7-7:30 test before you head to bed, every PM cycle if possible. That would be somewhere around +2 if I calculated it right.

A work schedule like yours Julie makes it really hard to get those PM tests, since you need to sleep sometime. It's why people try to test a bit more on their days off, and run a curve once a week or so when using the Prozinc SLGS protocol.

A curve means testing from AMPS, testing every 2 hours, then the PMPS test. No +6 today for the curve, at least not on the SS. Betting you had something come up that prevented that test being done. Life happens Julie. We all have responsibilities beyond caring for our diabetic cats.

You do the best you can Julie. How is Bear feeling? Are his symptoms improving? Less peeing, drinking, good but not overwhelming appetite? Grooming? Playing? Purring?

We focus on the numbers too much sometimes and forget to ask how your cat is doing otherwise.
 
You asked about the numbers on the lab tab on the SS. (In a PM to me)
First off, Bear earned an automatic 0.25U dose reduction, with that 54 at +5 AM cycle today 5/5/20.
Please reduce the dose for the PM cycle if you see this response in time.
Otherwise, reduce with the AM cycle for 6/6/20.

Anytime you get a BG level of <90 mg/dL when using the SLGS prozinc protocol, you reduce the dose.

Those are reference ranges, for some unnamed lab.
Different labs have different reference range values, although many are similar. For example, Idexx and Antech are 2 of the big vet testing labs in the US and elsewhere in the world.

The values from the laboratory are a bit different then for a hand held glucometer.
What those reference ranges are telling you are the normal values when the blood is tested at a lab.
Hand held glucometers, pet or human, often fall within that same range as the lab results do.
But they can vary a bit from that also. Many cats using a human meter, non-diabetic cats, can even test down in the 40's and be within the normal range. Some diabetic cats that are diet controlled, can also test lower than that 64-170 mg/dL listed.

Ideally, you want your cat to be at the lower part of the range, under 100 mg/dL. It takes time to get there though.

@Chris & China (GA) may have done your spreadsheet, so can tell you which lab those reference ranges are for.

p.s. No, you are not a horrible mom. You are doing the best you can for Bear.
