Good morning,

So I've not increased him, plus I'll get a curve on Sunday. I'm still confused, as even if he goes into the blues, or light greens for his nadir, is it "safe" for him to still be so high for the am/pm tests?

Off topic, I've found out that as my surgery is on June 12th, the doctors want me to self-isolate as much as possible prior to. (Apparently it allows them to use less of the "high demand" PPE items) So I'll be taking a week holiday starting that Monday. I'm going to volunteer to get a covid test too, so that will be interesting! (Not looking forward to having my "brain tickled" with a q-tip though . . . ugh)

Have a good day all,
Darcy

The higher PS numbers are not ideal, but dosing does need to be based on the nadir. The PS numbers will come down eventually. I don't think it is as bad for them to be higher part of the time as opposed to all of the time. I hope your covid test comes back negative and the surgery goes well.

I actually had a covid test on Sunday night - the swab didn't go in as far as I thought it would, so hopefully yours also goes smoothly! <3
That's good to hear! Years ago I had pituitary surgery and prior to it, the surgeon had asked me (as they go through the nose) if I'd ever broken it. I said no. But . . . I'd also played rugby for many years ;) I may have without even knowing it!

Anyway, after the surgery, the doctor says "that nose? Yeah . . . NOT a straight and narrow highway"! LOL I remember it so clearly ;)

I'm honestly not at all nervous about the test, unless of course I'm a carrier with zero symptoms! :nailbiting: But I've been very careful. I'm wearing masks with clients, I'm ALWAYS wearing them when I go into a store, my hands are like driftwood from all the washing and sanitizer! LOL So I've done pretty much all I can on my end. We'll see!

I had the COVID-19 test, I didn't think it was all that bad - they give you the test kit and you do it yourself now - hopefully you'll get to do it yourself...they did ask me to insert the little swab slowly and give it a gentle turn turn turn for 15 seconds...the nurse counted off the seconds for me which was helpful...my eyes watered up a bit but other than that it really wasn't all that bad. I think the newer tests are much less invasive - I did see the swabs they used in the beginning of all of this and they appeared to be much longer and also looked as if they were trying to tickle your pituitary gland!

Interesting you say that you had pituitary gland surgery! I work for Neurosurgeons and I observed that type of surgery once. And yes, it was via the nostril with an extremely long probe! Whoa!! They removed a pituitary gland tumor and then were resecting some abdominal fat to replace the area the resection had left open - otherwise there would have been nothing left to support the brain that rests just above...I thought it was all quite fascinating.

Best of luck on your test results! And keep on being careful...last thing anyone needs is to have their case postponed due to positive COVID-19 testing...

And try not to worry about those high AM and PM numbers - they really are the worst of the day...eventually his body will catch up with all that's going on with his blood glucose...it takes a little time...but his curves will flatten out..Luci still insists on her yellow bookends just about daily...but we do the best we can.

Have a great evening Darcy!

Sue, I just have to add, at the time, when I came home, my roommate and I were living in a triplex and my landlord was on the main floor. It was the fall and he'd not yet turned the heat back on. My roommate went downstairs and asked if he could put the heat on, I'd just had surgery and it was chilly.

He replied, laughing (I know he was just joking) "What? Did she have BRAIN surgery?! harrdeeharrharrrr"

She replied "well, as a matter of fact, yes"

Heat was on within the hour! LMAO!!!!!
