Wet food for diabetes and kidney disease

You need to look for foods that have phosphorus levels of 200mg/ 100kcals or less as well as carbs under 10%.
Here is a chart for you to find some. You will see a column which has mg phosphorus/ 100kcals. Look in that column.
Weruva has some foods in the ‘cats in the kitchen’ range that has some suitable ones and probably in their other ranges as well.

My cat is ckd. This is what I feed


Weruva slide and serve pate foods Family Food (.97 phosphorus and 0 carb). Also Jeopurrdy Chicken (0.97 P 6.1 carb)

Weruva Steak Frites (0.57 phosphorus 7.5 carb although I take out any big pieces of potatoes to try to limit the carbs just a bit)

weruva Fowl Ball chicken and turkey (0.89phosphorus 0 carb). Although this one isn't a favorite anymore

Weruva LA isla Bonita - phosphorus 0.77 carb 4.5
Glam and punk 1% carb, 0.93 phosphorous.

Weruva paw lickin chicken 3.3 carb 0.82 p and
Press your lunch 5.9 carb. 0.82 phosphorous

Weruva bff play Laugh Out Loud chicken and lamb 7.7 carb, 0.82 phosphorous. This is her current favorite

I also have another cat with CKD (but not diabetic). I was told to feed the low phosphorus (<200mg/100kcal) and also moderate protein (27-35%).

Some of the food you list seems to have high protein. Will it cause high BUN number?

I am following this document to feed her.

The lower protien is when they are in a late stage. My cat is stage 2. If they don't get enough protien they are prone to muscle atrophy. I keep the bun in control by adding lots of extra water.

People in the "FELINE CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE" group suggested me to do the subq fluids. But Kitty now eats 5oz canned food daily, and I add extra water to the wet food, plus she drinks from the drinking fountain also.

So I haven't done the subq fluids yet. I also asked the vet and he said as long as she has enough water intake, no subq fluid needed.

I will take her to the vet for a recheck in early August to see if the kidney numbers are lowered.

They also recommended to use "Pet Wellbeing Kidney Disease Support Gold Cat Supplement". I have bought it but haven't used it.
