Bandit has chin acne. Has had it for several years and all this time I thought she somehow managed to get it dirty by rubbing it on various surfaces in the house (and we do have a lot of dust!)
It was only after reading here that I realized it is chin acne and not dirt. Fortunately, its just black spots (black heads?) and no redness/inflammation/infection. She has been eating out of stainless steel bowls almost all her life. I have now started cleaning her bowl daily - something I didn't bother with since she is on kibble (Young Again).
I've read here that Benzoyl Peroxide is an effective treatment for feline acne. I've bought a tube of Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% gel but wanted to reconfirm before I started using it on her chin. Do I need to dilute it in some way before I apply it? How much should I apply and at what frequency?
(Also, there's a warning on the product literature saying that Benzoyl Peroxide acts as a "tumour promoter on a strain of mice that are highly susceptible to developing cancer"
)
Attaching photos of Bandit's chin as well as the product I've bought.
Advice would be most appreciated.
