So how low is this dose taking Dusty?
2 days ago she was bumped up to 2 units when her usual Vet was off the vets partner/owner bumped her up ,that’s when she was at BG 157 then when she wasn’t eating at all I thought it was too high of a dose so the owner vet put her back till her usual vet came back they also had me bring her in for a pancreatitis test which was negative. As of today her usual Vet came back reviewed her charts and put her back to 2 units
Her PMPS was 454 now she is registering over 500 again Why is this happening ?

Im sure you got some good advice from all these fine people...All we do is make sure the pill, 1/4 tablet is at the back of his throat, he doesn't like it but he is doing so much better taking the pill. From what I understand this pill has a terrible taste to it and that doesn't help the process of giving a cat a pill....What we do right after he gets his pill is make sure he gets some kind of treat, we either give him boiled non seasoned chicken breats (treat size) or Purebites (chicken), Brady really loves them) This has really helped him at pill time...Hope this is some help for you, I know its a tough pill to take for the kittys.

When I needed to give awful tasting Pepcid to my first cat I started with pill pockets. That worked great until she managed to eat around one and tasted the pill. She never ate a pill pocket again even without a pill! Now with all cats I use gel caps, size 3 or 4. They are great because you can combine pills and pill pieces together in one and no taste. I follow with a good tasting treat or baby food. If not willing to eat I syringe water but I hate doing that. You can get gel caps on amazon or from capsuline.com.

Omg this is happening with Minnie. She’s managing to eat the pill pocket around the pill and spitting the pill out. I started making it super small and pilling her with my hand pill pocket and all. The tiny bit of pill pocket helps it go down her throat. I just replied to you on my thread I’ve never done that with a capsule. It’s a little bigger than a pill isn’t it? And it’s okay they don’t gag or anything? :bookworm:
