Half hour ago Monkey poops at a plastic swallow box that is normally for cats to sit on. The shape resembles litter box.

After few poops, I saw Monkey has a red unknown object, blight red, looks like the color of blood, stucking out on his anus, look like that object is half of the way of coming out. He remained in that box for few minutes, in a posture that is like semi pooping. (He has neuropathy, so it is not that obvious to tell from the posture) I was very nervous and ask for my family member for help. My family member (calmer than me) told me to remove the few poops and throw the box to the bin.

I followed her "instruction" and she put Monkey on the ground, finding the red object disappeared and said he is back to normal now.

I think WE DID THE WRONG THING. I should NOT have followed her instruction, instead I SHOULD not interrupt Monkey to see if he needed to excrete something out or he wanted to do anything. Also, I SHOULD take a photo and ask the vet and the people here.

What should I do? I suspect that he has constipation since cats with constipation have difficult and painful excretion. After Monkey sit on the floor and look normal, I give him can food to eat to test his appetite, since I know cats with constipation may lose their appetite. Monkey appetite is normal and now he slept seemingly peaceful on my left side.

Also, I retrieve the plastic box from the bin and feel cat litter on it. Thinking Monkey prefer that litter box because it is shorter and more convenient to access since Monkey hind legs is very weak and he may have difficulty crossing the high border of normal cat litter box. Simply put, that plastic box is very swallow and easier for Monkey to walk in.

Monkey saw the vet last week, there was several problem but none was related to constipation. Also, Monkey drinks a lot of water every day and pee a lot.

What should I do people? :(

Btw, I am mad to myself. Why did I follow my family member that has a track record of making a lot of absolutely wrong, non-sense judgement and actions. (What worse is she ALWAYS thinks she is right even after many horrible disasters) Probably because panic causes me to (wrongly) trust people's judgement but not think critically. I need to take a crisis management course so I can handle things better. :(

Awwww (((((((Peter))))))) and poor Monkey sigh. Are you saying whatever it was that cam out, is some kind of plastic box? How big is this thing? I think I'm not reading this correctly. I mean did it go back into his anus? Or you threw whatever it was away?

I know we all take advice from the wrong people from time to time. I hate to say it but I think monkey needs an xray to see whats going on inside him. I may be jumping the gun on this so wait for more replies ok? Is Monkey uncomfortable at all? Was there any blood in places hes sat?

I'm sorry if I'm not reading this correctly. Please dot be offended. I'm worried for both of you!:bighug:

Hmmmmm.....

I think you should call the vet and ask for advice and possibly take him in again to get looked at. The two possibilties are, it was a red foreign object that he's having trouble passing (maybe, but seems unlikely) or the red you saw was tissue and/or blood. There are a few things in that area that could get displaced-- the rectum itself could be prolapsed, the anal glands can become impacted/rupture, there could even be a small tumor or growth in just the wrong place.

English is not my first language therefore I did not express things accurately. It is Monkey go in a swallow plastic box that is normally for the cats to sit, and poop there. I forgot to mention, the red things that come out but go back into his anus is index finger thick.

There is not blood. I am not sure if it is uncomfortable, but his subtle muscle and head movement is not like his relaxed state. Yes, I think I need to go to the vet:confused: Poor Monkey

@Peter H , how is Monkey doing today?

Luckily Monkey is acting completely normal. Eat a lot, pee a lot, but he has not pooped today I guess. Just now Monkey walked and sit on his Mom FaFa (he rarely did that when he did not have diabetes) that leads to FaFa kick him away by hitting him with her paws.

I have booked Vet and have Monkey see him on Monday. This vet is very popular and requires advance booking, probably because he charges a very reasonable price.

I have googled "rectum prolapse", some source suggested:

I notice that, Monkey's behavior, skin, fur, bloated belly have been improved, however, I find his hind leg being worst. He lacks the strength to having adduction in his leg muscle, so he move like constantly doing gymnastic split. This should be related to neuropathy. :( I have already given him Methyl B12 supplements for nearly a month. His BG is still high despite his dose increase a lot recently. I am thinking if his dose need to be 2.0 the day after tomorrow.

Hi Peter The methyl B12 is only half the equation. Monkey's BG have to come down to a lower level for some days for the neuropathy to go away. Once his numbers start coming down then you will see improvement. I'm sending prayers for Monkey cuz I wuvs him too.:bighug:

Aw, Monkey! He cannot catch a break, it seems.... Hope he is feeling better soon. I agree, unless the numbers change, I would increase to 2.0U if his numbers don't improve after the sixth cycle at 1.75U. If you are going to see the vet on Monday, it probably makes sense to wait until afterwards, though.
