My Jack has been in remission for 10 months. He gets 1 can Fancy Feast in the morning, chicken breast treat mid-afternoon, ground turkey at dinner time, and 1 can FF before bed.

I've been following this routine for months and his numbers are still good. His brother (non-diabetic) Rufus follows the same.

The problem, however, is that Jack wakes me up at as early as 4:00 every morning yowling to be fed. It's not that he is starving, he just wants me to get up and feed him.

I've tried the auto-feeders and Rufus found a way to break into them before even trying it a second time.

So I purchased some Young Again Zero thinking I would leave a small amount out overnight to see if that would stop or delay the early morning wake up calls.

The material that comes with Young Again says that a diabetic cat cannot have this food with any other type of food, especially something with carbs. The FF has carbs and I just cannot switch them both to Young Again.

Has anyone ever fed both Young Again and FF with good results?

Any thoughts or guidance would be most appreciated.

Thank you so very much.

Ugh well welcome to the early morning breakfast club. I get up at 3:45 to quiet a not so hungry cat.
One thing I wouldnt do is introduce dry food to a non dry food kitty.I would be too worried about his remission But thats me. I'm retired even though I never go back to bed ...I dont. I know most people here have jobs and family. So...well...Remission is SUCH a good thing.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Oh dear, these cats who break into feeders:joyful:
Could you try leaving a frozen amount of food out on a plate and seeing if he will eat that when it unfreezes and not wake you up?
I wouldn’t introduce a dry food either, even if it’s low carb it you can find another way around it.

What kind of auto feeder did you get?

We have the 5 meal autofeeder and the first time I used it, Freckles figured out if she knocks it off the counter, some will spill out (have to keep it up as we have dogs in the hourse too). I ended up putting it in a drawer of an old dresser we had and putting her bed on the top of the dresser. She usually sleeps atop the dresser "guarding" her feeder.

This is what we have:

I am interested in this technology, if they are not dried freeze meat, how could it be possible to make dry food without having carbs. (it says close to 0% carbs)

I think my cat would prefer can and meat tho. :bookworm:
