4/5 Blaze amps 94 +4 79 +7 90 PMPS 95 +2.5 70 +3.5 65 +4.5 78

Well I’m in a bit of a pickle. My husband and I would like to go camping for Memorial Day weekend, we would leave 5/22, Friday morning (after amps) and would come home 5/25 Monday afternoon (before PMPS). I’m torn on what to do. Do I have the pet sitter come twice a day for AMPS and PMPS, give Blaze insulin and to feed the cats, check on them, etc. or do I bring Blaze camping with us? I’ve never traveled with Blaze, he does not like being in the car and we would be tent camping so it would take a lot to bring Blaze with us, and I’m afraid he would be freaked out/stressed out.
My concerns with leaving him home and having the pet sitter come is that Blaze is doing so well! I’m afraid of lowering his dose while we’re out of town and losing all the momentum. Another thing is that we have no cell service where we go camping, so I wouldn’t be able to be in contact with our pet sitter, if she needed to get ahold of me. I could drive a bit to where there is phone service to check in, but I probably wouldn’t be getting up at 6 am every morning to drive down to have service to talk to her at AMPS. It scares me to not be able to be in contact with the pet sitter, if she has a question or an emergency. I don’t know what to do! Any advice?:nailbiting:

Can you give her access to your login here? At least she can get advice if needed. Will she be testing?
Yes I can give her my login info and I can leave my laptop open for her also. That’s what I did last September when I was in Maui for my wedding honeymoon. She would come twice a day for AMPS and PMPS but no additional testing. I would reduce Blaze’s dose a couple days before we leave and leave her thorough instructions. She’s taken care of Blaze and my other two cats several times
since Blaze’s diabetes diagnosis, I’ve just never been somewhere that I don’t have cell phone service to talk to her when needed so that freaks me out. I will drive down once a day where I get cell service to check in with her.

Well we’ve got it all figured out for our Memorial Day camping trip in a couple weeks! I hate to leave the cats but it’s only for 3 and a half days and I know they will be in good hands with our pet sitter. She will come over for AMPS and PMPS, test blood glucose, feed the cats and give Blaze his insulin. Once we get closer, I will figure out a good dose to reduce Blaze to while we’re out of town, and figure out a “no shoot” number to give the pet sitter. I won’t have cell service where we are camping so I will drive out of our camp site about 30 minutes, once a day to be able to call my pet sitter and check in. I’m going to leave my laptop open for her with the forum open so she can ask you guys any questions if she needs to, since she won’t be able to get ahold of me. I think this will work just fine! Fingers crossed!
