Morning,

SUPER discouraged today. Not from Jonesy's numbers, but from the drama between Jonesy and my other guy Vinnie. There was a fight last evening. Vinnie bit me in the middle of it all. I KNOW he didn't mean it, because being the moron that I am, I put my hand into the middle of a cat fight.

Brilliant eh? I know better :'( I KNOW better . . .

I cleaned it really well, spent over an hour squeezing it so it would continue to bleed/flush itself, but just in case, I ended up going to Urgent Care. I've been bitten before by a scared feral and that resulted in a week's worth of antibiotics via IV drip for me. No thanks . . .

On the plus side, my finger is good. I don't think there is any infection, but I'll fill the RX today for the 3 days of antibiotics. (They gave me one "starter" dose at the hospital last night)

There is an excellent chance that the stress between the cats, even though they are kept 100% separate (Vinnie got through my legs last night, I thought he was sleeping :( ) is playing havoc with Jonesy's numbers also. There is no way it can't be. He's terrified of Vinnie.

I'm going to seriously consider rehoming Vinnie :'( It's breaking my heart . . .

Vinnie is already on Prozac, twice a day. I've got two Feliway diffusers going in my house. I've done the whole scent swapping; brushing them with same brush; Rescue Remedy. Right now I've got $160 worth of Jackson Galaxy holistic stuff in transit . . . I don't know what more I can do.

Anyway, I have to go into my work this morning. There is talk about reopening on Monday. I told my boss I'm not sure how comfortable I am with it. I know my coworker feels the same way. But thankfully, our boss is THE BEST so we'll see what we can figure out in regards to protocol and such.

Take care all,
Darcy

Oh Darcy, I’m so sorry for you. :( It sounds like you’ve done everything humanly possible to keep Vinny from attacking Jonesy. I can’t think of anything else you can do. Obviously, Jonesy would be much better off without having to live in fear and probably Vinny would prefer to be in a home where he’s the only cat. But what a heartbreaking decision to have to make, I really feel for you and I hope there’s some other way of solving this. Maybe there's some magic solution in the holistic stuff...?

Glad you got some AB’s and had your finger checked out, but what a huge hassle. Where’s that blanket to throw over and diffuse the catfight when you need it?

I hope today goes a lot smoother for all of you. :bighug::):bighug:

Have that problem with Tripper and PJ. Tripper used to be terrorized by a previous cat we had. Tripper took to the basement. If Patches got down there which happened, Tripper got the anger. Tripper was happy down there, played with us, talked to us. Basement was large and bright with big furnace for heat. Every so often she ventured upstairs to look around.

In this house she again took to basement. When Patches crossed she figured out it was safe to be upstairs, until PJ. Tripper would get ambushed in the litter box. Anytime Tripper moved PJ is on her. Tripper took to the basement again. This basement is dark, gloomy, cold. But Trip is happy. Trip lost the fur on her ears, vet said from stress. Said if she prefers the basement let her be there. I just don't like it. But now with her ears, I bought her upstairs and now in spare room but door has to be kept closed. I'm trying to get husband to put a full screen door up so she can be safe yet hear the sounds of the house. Little by little I leave the door open. She doesn't mind Tux at all, but PJ nope, not another female.

Thank you Sonia, yes, I know. A friend of mine read me the riot act about sticking my hand in a cat fight. May as well shove it in a running turbine engine! LOL

Oooooh man, I do feel your pain. I get it. Right now, I use an old, huge glass storm window as a "door". It's what I used at the other house and Jonesy just had the one room the majority of the time. It saddened me. I had such huge hopes that the new house would be a new start. No luck. So this "storm door" is now literally dividing the house in half on the main floor.

Vinnie sleeps in the office at night, and he seems pretty happy with it. Jonesy and Fiona are in the bed with me. I move them around, so they each get "the whole house" just not at the same time. But it truly is exhausting . . . I think a screen door is an excellent idea!!! Good luck :bighug:
