Lantus dosage

Does Pantera's spreadsheet look ok? I am concerned with not keeping the same dose of lantus because he seems to be at lower numbers at night, will I just keep 2units am and 1unit pm or should he be the same. Don't want a hypo. I did change his food on 22/4 to lower carbs than he was having and cut dry food out after joining the group and his numbers definitely look better I think

Lantus like consistency, so you need to be giving the same dose both cycles otherwise you mess up the depot.

Colleen have you decided what dosing method you are following....tight regulation where you reduce when the BG drops under 50 (2.8) and can increase the dose every 3 days if needed and no dry food.
Or start low go slow method where you reduce under 90 (5) and hold the dose for 7 days before increasing.

also you need to be testing further if you get a BG like 4.2 or 3.5. I would test an hour later to see the BG is not dropping further

Most cats go lower at night.

As I said on Facebook, Lantus should be given at the same dose both AM and PM so the depot has a chance to stabilize and really show us what each dose can do.

I'd try 1.5U and see how Pantera does over the next few days.
Ok great I have to guess though because my syringes only go up in units of .

I'm not sure what that means with the dosing method? Which one is mostly used?

You can buy 1/2 unit syringes from the UK if you are interested.
For almost the whole time I used 1 unit syringes for Sheba. You just have to imagine dividing the syringes up into 1/2 then 1/4 units. The 1.5 Units is half way between the 1 unit and the 2 unit.

Both the dosing methods is used. Probably the TR is used more. It is more aggressive than the SLGS. It depends on lots of things....food fed, how often the caregiver can test, what the caregiver is comfortable doing.
Here are the two dosing methods,
