Oh, I see @Marje and Gracie may on. Any thoughts?
Sorry, Judy....I was only on a second letting Karen know I had just gotten up and was doing my own cat care routine.

Wow is Freckles looking great!! You are doing a super job with her.

I’m assuming you intend that 10.5u to be a permanent reduction?

Have you and Wendy discussed whether you should use below 50 as a reduction point...or some other number? I’m behind on your discussions and I’m not saying you should use a different reduction number but I’ve seen some acro moms raise their reduction number a bit and I didn’t want to interfere with that. Have you all discussed when a BCS is a good idea?

I’m just asking to get up to speed. Thanks and have a great day!

She's always looking good. :p Did you notice the new avatar? This is a much more 'becoming' picture of her than the previous photo. lol Yes, I'm happy that she is seeing these numbers.:D

Well, permanent as far a permanent goes with these sugar cats! lol Yes, I plan on holding the 10.5 u for 6 cycles unless something exciting happens.

No, we haven't talked about using a different reduction number - there haven't been too many opportunities for reductions with Ms. Freckles, but it is something to think about. That large depot is in the back of my mind and so is the possibility of starting to break the insulin resistance.

Have you all discussed when a BCS is a good idea?
When I look back at Freckles' SS to the last BCS her numbers did tend to go a bit higher for the next consecutive cycles and I'd like Freckles to see some more green. Call me greedy! :D But I don't want to endanger her health by going too low though either.

You've put forth some good discussion areas and things to think about. I'll bug Wendy a bit later and see what her thoughts are.

Thanks again for your help Marje. You have a great day too!

Just curious, why are you reducing her food amounts? How much does Freckles weigh?

FWIW, I raised the reduction point to 70 after SRT and when the IAA was breaking. The rest of the time it was 50. But when I was getting a lot of fast back to back reductions, I wanted the extra margin of safety. I needed it so the depot didn’t get too far ahead of me.

As for BCS, Know Thy Cat. Again, it can be situation dependent. It it’s a one off reduction is different from when you are in a fast roller coaster down the dosing hill. Size of dose is also a factor, and ability to monitor. An overly large depot can be a pain and influence six cycles, maybe more depending on size. One thing I always suggest with higher dose cats, start with a conservative approach, see how it goes, adjust from there.

I'd like to see her about 10 lbs. Currently she weighs 11 lbs 1oz. She is the laziest of all of my cats except when it's eating time, then she moves like lightening. Otherwise, she pretty much stays in her bed 'guarding' her feeder. In between the meals, she'll go and find a sunspot, scratch on the scratching post or follow me around a bit. She never was much for playing and has never really ever got the 'zoomies'.

Do you think I should raise the reduction point for Freckles? Or just hang tight to see this next little while. Her numbers aren't dropping drastically and she's still staying relatively flat.

Do you think I should have given Freckles a BCS this morning?

As long as you can monitor, stick with the current plan. Two reductions earned in two weeks isn't a pattern yet. As for the BCS, the next couple cycles will answer that question.

I don't think I'd bother waiting. She's been essentially flat for 2 hours now. Waiting just might make her drop because she hasn't had food.

Sorry, was eating dinner. Glad you shot the full dose. Reducing by 0.5 wouldn't do much to change how this cycle is going to play out. Get the usual +1 to start.
