Hugo went pretty far down suddenly and we don't want to shoot him far back up. Fed him a couple teaspoons of his food but it might have no carbs? We're testing again in 15.

Scratching my head looking at his spreadsheet, dunno what is up with this action today. I guess he could be breaking a bounce from the blues a couple days ago, but so sudden... Maybe just timing with insulin onset today, I don't know.

It looks like Hugo's bounce broke. Could you also get a retest after 30 min? (My rule of thumb is to retest if you get a number that seems out of sync. It's possible the 63 is due to a bad test or bad strip -- or the bounce broke.) Oops... Looks like you re-tested.

I agree with Wendy.

You do have the option of what we call shooting through the bounce. If Hugo is skyrocketing by PMPS, you can shoot the old 2.5 units one more time tonight, then reduce to 2.25 units tomorrow morning. That technique can help then get over the bounce a little faster.

One more thing, could you take down the 911? We use that for medical emergencies. Now that you have eyes on you, you don’t need it

Yes, I will change that. Thank you.

I think I'll shoot through the bounce. The bounces are just so rough on him. I can tell that he feels really bad when his numbers are high.

Thank you everyone for responding so quickly. I'm gonna test him again in about 15 to make sure he's out of the woods.

He didn't look like he was going up at an alarming rate earlier, but what number would justify staying at 2.5 tonight and going down to 2.25 on the morning? I want to keep with shooting low to stay low.

Even breaking this bounce scares me. It makes me think something else is wrong.

OK, I probably won't be around then, but hopefully some other folks will. You should be fine to shoot tonight, the only question is whether you want to shoot through the bounce or take the reduction tonight. That will be a judgement call on what you are comfortable with. Right now, at 89 on an AT, I'd probably take the reduction, but he's got two more hours to go before shot time, and he could climb quite a bit between now and then so I'm guessing you'll be able to shoot 2.5 if you decide you want to do that. I think you are correct to want to try to take advantage of these low numbers as much as possible.

Wow, he's having fun hanging out in the nice numbers tonight!!!! I think the 2.25 is a good move-- he'll surely be moving up soon, but he's taking his time!

It seemed like his shot was painful tonight. I think the insulin was still cold from the fridge. He's always angry about the shot, but it always makes me feel awful, like I did something wrong, like hit a muscle. Guess I won't know for an hour or so.

Sorry I use this board so much as just a sounding board. I should probably just get a therapist. I'm glad I found a community of people who have gone through or are going through the same thing as I am.

Fed him some food. He's looking a bit rough around the edges. I dont want to give him any higher carb yet. Hopefully he's gonna sit nicely in this green area, but green so early make me nervous.

+5.5 is 106
I want to go to bed, but I don't want him to fall off while I'm asleep.
I had given him some more food about 30 mins ago.
Because you fed 30 mins ago and that might have bumped up the BG a bit..can you get a +6.5 test in before you go to sleep?
Don't give any more food at the moment and if he's still not dropping back you could go to bed. Then you could give him a good feed. How about that?

Wow! What a lovely surf Hugo had! Now he just has to get used to these kinds of numbers and you'll be in business!

He seems exhausted.

The rapid ups and downs in BG can be hard on them. Hopefully that's just it and he'll feel better in the morning after some sleep uninterrupted by pokes.

Great job last night!
