Lily had her ultrasound on March 31. The doc did needle aspirations on both her liver and her pancreas, they told me the pancreas was a little tricky to get a sample. I got the results back. And the results are inconclusive. The next step would be surgery to get biopsies. I've decided not to put Lily through surgery. In the meantime she is still eating, using the litter box, going outside on the lanai. She has not vomited in a long time and her fur is actually looking better than it has in awhile. Her blood sugar is still in the normal ranges without insulin. We are just taking it one day at a time. If anyone wants to read the ultrasound biopsy report I will post it.

so far so good with Lily...neither Lily or myself can give up testing her blood sugar. :)
It is really hard to give up testing on your diabetic cat. I did manage to taper off after a while, but I didn't believe the remission was real with Wink, so I kept up the testing for a long time. Or when he seemed off. Wanted to catch him falling out of diet controlled status, if that ever happened, and get him back on insulin really quickly. It never did happen, loss of OTJ status.

Hope Lily is the same way.

@Deb & Wink , Lily is an acro kitty. it took me by surprise when she went OTJ. That was 5 months ago.

After my vet wanted to do "exploratory surgery" on one of my cats, after 2 inconclusive liver biopsy results, I said no thanks. She lived 3 more years, with medication and food support.
What kind of medication were you giving your kitty for their liver?

I was giving Denamarin to Lily as well. She started vomiting again every day early morning for over a week. Took her off Denamarin & started giving Herbsmith milk thistle and liquid vitamin e and since she hasn't vomited at all. Don't know if one has anything to do with the other.

@Noah & me (GA) , After the needle biopsies came back inconclusive on both her liver and pancreas, I decided not to pursue it any further. Lily's quality of life is all that matters to me.
If anyone has checked her spreadsheet lately, you will see that she is doing really well. Mostly greens for the last several weeks. I guess her pancreas works fine, but the tumor that caused the acro gave out. Again I want to thank @Wendy&Neko who has been with us since the beginning in this crazy journey. Not sure where Karen aka @Karen&Doodles is these days, but she also helped me a lot in the beginning.

The quality of life here improves the longer I stay away from that clinic. We were told surgery and chemotherapy were not an option, treat her like a princess and let her eat whatever she wants. Hand feeding her chicken got a little old after six months. I wrote the oncologist a nice e-mail about how well Hannah was doing months later and got no reply, she would have had to admit she was wrong.

@Karen & Lily That was a long time ago but sometimes it feels like yesterday. That clinic does high end stuff like external fixators for broken bones and they have an MRI but they're just devoid of compassion. They got it wrong with the dog, we had a cat die in reception while I tracked down a staff member (it's an emergency clinic) and another cat was yanked from his prison cell at 2AM for a blood pressure check, he freaked out and went into cardiac failure. We got a pathetic form letter about what a nice cat he was and my wife just exploded.

Had enough of doctors by now Deb?
Surgeons just love cutting you open, it's what they do. I once had a minor tush problem, painful enough to go to ER because I didn't know what it was, then just went away. I had a consult with the bum doctor who promised it would never come back after he was through with me. To lighten the mood I said "As long as I don't end up with a 'bag', he then quoted the likelihood this might happen. No thanks ya humorless weirdo. :blackeye:
