I thought there was another post after that one but I guess not. Been a few days since I posted. My health issues have been back in full swing this week but I'm finally starting to kick out of it. I know scratches is due for an increase but every time I think about doing it, I see numbers in the 70s so I hold off. Is this a safe nadir to increase a dose? It just makes me worry because our vets here are mainly closed and open for emergencies only and I'd have trouble getting her to an emergency vet if something did happen. Probably wouldn't need to but in just in case, it's just something I've been thinking of. But now that I'm feeling better, if I do need to increase I could monitor her better and have the energy to be up with her, give Karo if needed, etc...

I do love her numbers over the last couple weeks and it seems almost every day so far we've seen greens which makes me super happy.

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. What are some things you've been doing to stay busy? I've been watching a lot of Netflix and drinking a lot of wine ! Haha

With TR and a nadir that's mostly in the 90s, it should be safe to increase. Remember, reductions are based on numbers below 68 so you have room to increase.

Given that. you have a slightly lower than. usual PMPS, I would get some early tests -- which it looks like you do anyway. If you see numbers are dropping by +2, you can bump them up with a bit of HC.

Okay sounds good. Yeah she's quite a bit lower tonight but I shot a 120 before at this dose. I usually get a +1 and +2 if she's lower than normal just to be safe. She did just eat a big dinner but if she's dropping at +2 she will never say no to the tasty HC food ha! I like the dose she's at now and I like her numbers but if I see her start to creep up I will increase. Seeing those 70s makes me a bit wary to increase so I'll see what the next few cycles tell me. Would you happen to know why she's so high in the am and throughout the day but then drops later in her cycles? She usually stays about the same for her pm cycles, doesn't drop too much, but in the mornings she's high and takes all day almost the whole cycle before I see greens.

I agree with Sienne - you have some wiggle room for an increase. Especially since you switched to the human meter which is reduction below 50. If you don't see anything lower tonight, you can increase tomorrow. Too much pink for my taste on this dose. More insulin also reduces the high points.

120+ km on the rowing machine since we went into lock down.

There's a response called "dawn phenomenon." BG numbers can rise early in the morning as the normal release of stress hormones occurs. It's our body's way of preparing for the stress of the day. As a result of the influence of corticosteroids, numbers rise. Gotta love biorhythms.

That 2.0 unit episode was 5 months ago? A cat's insulin needs can change over time. Anything over two weeks can be ancient history. Neko's good dose ranged from 8.75 units, gradually down to 0.75 units, back up to 7.0 units over time, then back down to 0.25 units, all over the space of almost 5 years. Just following the protocol and what the nadirs tell you to do with the dose.

I haven't seen you post in a while, hope you're doing alright. I'm surprised you're still on a dose of 1.25 units, you've been on it for over a month.
I used to hold mine a week and everyone told me that was too long and could lead to glucose toxicity. I know you're worried about her going hypo but if you want her to go into remission you'll have to get used to seeing some lower numbers.
I was nervous when I started seeing numbers under 100 and then I started seeing numbers under 70 too, but eventually got used to those as well. I even got used to shooting in the 50s.
As long you have plenty of supplies and you're able to stay up to monitor some nights I really don't think you have anything to worry about regarding increases.
That's just my two cents though. Listen to the advice of the experienced members, they know what they're talking about and are happy to help.
Thomas' 14th day of his OTJ trial will be tomorrow. If it wasn't for this forum and all of the wonderful people here giving me advice and guiding me while following TR I highly doubt Thomas and I would be at this point.
I hope you're both doing well. Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday.:bighug:
