Hi all, :cat:
I hope I am creating this thread correctly.
I have a few questions on some symptoms my kitty Bear has been exhibiting while having BGs under 120.
We have been on lantus for a month and have had 2 hypo scares. When she gets to numbers below 120 she exhibits some of the hypo symptoms she had when she was in the hypo BG range. Such as being sensitive to the light. Her pupils will contract according to the light change but it seems very bright for her and she acts hungry.(I know in human diabetics this is also similar when approaching low blood sugar)

However today at +5 she was 95 but showed none of those symptoms and the only difference was I fed her a little more than usual. Other than this all of her diabetes symptoms are subsiding. We are on our last day of amoxicillin for a UTI and she has been more playful than she has in the last 6 months. Can anyone offer any advice or experience they have had with this?

Hmmm.... interesting! I don't think I can offer any relevant experience about those symptoms, but I wonder if she's just getting used to more "normal" numbers? That is, maybe at the beginning 120 felt like "whoa! getting low here!" because she'd gotten used to 300+, but now that she's spending a lot of time in blues, no big deal.

Sounds like she's feeling better all around!!!!

The thread looks great, but if you were trying to get the blue question mark in the title, that's in a drop-down menu when you create or edit the thread title. You don't have to do that, of course, but it does stand out more as a thread with a question when people are scanning down the board, so it can help get responses!

Thank you for your response!
Ah that is such a relief for me to hear!! I'm hoping after our curve this Saturday we may be able to lower her dose or no shoot number. She defintely is acting alot better but I didnt think remission was achievable so quickly. (Not that I think shes in remission. Fingers are crossed for that though) this dose is going against both vets I've consulted wishes. Each one has wanted me to have her on 2u. The most recent vet wanted her to move up to 2u when she was on amoxci. Obviously she does very well on a lower dose so we are yet again looking for a new vet.

we are yet again looking for a new vet

I gave up after 4 vets ….#5 I used only for other things like dentals, yearly bloodwork/check-ups and a nasty URI China got once.

I listened to the people here instead since everything they told me made sense. I also knew that if I needed someone to help me fast in an emergency like really low numbers, I could depend on the people here to always be here (that's what the 911 prefix is for in the subject line drop down menu)

When I did have to take her in, I'd just start the appointment with "She's on X units of Lantus and her blood glucose runs between Y and Z" ….and that was usually about the end of the conversation. If the vet did feel like she just had to give me some advice (I didn't ask for), I'd smile, nod my head and say "I'll think about that"....and I came right back here.

It's sad vets choose not to educate themselves further on FD. It seems to be a common thing. I'm glad I am surrounded by caring advocates for their fur babies. China is so lucky to have you!
I have another question if you could maybe help me with. Her PMPS has been below the 150 threshold the last 3 nights now. Just now she was 152. Should I go ahead give her the .25u tonight at her usual 8pm or try to stall again and see if her bg drops or rises?
