? 3/21 Viamo HELP: PMPS=58. Ok to shoot?

Can you wait, without feeding, for 20 minutes or so and retest? Just want to see if he's going up or down at this point.

Did you get any other tests today?

Sadly we didn't test today. That's bad. Also, we already fed him. He went up to 62

How long past the food is that second test?

I also didn't see any tests last night. Maybe TR is not right for you.

OK. Food take 20-30 minutes from the plate to the blood stream, so the second test was probably not food influenced. Can you wait another 20 minutes and test again? If you shoot, I would reduce by 0.25 units.

Ok. How do we decide wether to shoot or not based on that new measurement?

Wait another 20 minutes and see how much he is going up. 58 and 62 are close, within meter variance. It does show he's not going down.

Other things you have to answer. Do you have plenty of test strips? Do you have high carb food? Can you monitor tonight.

We have test strips, we have normal cat food and high-glucose food for emergencies, and we can monitor tonight.

OK, still flat. If you shoot tonight, it could mean staying up late. Another option is a reduced dose but the first part of the cycle could still be busy. You shot 93 a few days ago and it was a nice cycle. I think the decision has to be yours, based on your ability to monitor. If you do shoot, get a +1 and a +2.

Ok. We've decided to give him a half-dose and still measure him during the night.

Totally. I think right now, we are all pulling back a bit on what we can do, reconsidering.

The low number tonight was certainly a surprise, but a good one. You are doing a great job with him!
Thank you very much for your kind words. Yes, it seems it is a hard time for everybody.

Another important question: what's the decision procedure for his injection tomorrow morning? How high should he be to recieve his usual dose?

Since you are doing a half dose tonight, I don't think there will be a question about tomorrow's dose. Theoretically under TR you could have shot full dose tonight without a reduction. But given that we are all distracted these days and testing isn't what it would be in less stressful times, caution is important.
