Claudio went to 81 @ +7. 1st green ever.
Then 108 @ +9.
2 hours until TFS.
Thinking ahead for that time.

What # would be a stall and re-test number ?
What would be a safe # to shoot ?
He's on 4U of Lantus, TR.
Due for an increase tomorrow.

I don't want to wait until it's time and he's still low (for him) and I panic.

Due for an increase tomorrow

When a cat starts to get into low blue/high greens, you want to hold the dose for 8-10 cycles, so I wouldn't increase him tomorrow. Let's see what happens first. He may bounce from dropping into green today because it looks like his body isn't used to being that low.

If he's above 150 at PMPS, shoot the scheduled 4U. If he's under 150, stall, don't feed and test again in 20-30 minutes. Edit your post's Subject line to say something like "STALLING! NEED HELP!" to get help ASAP.

Eventually, you'll learn to shoot lower and lower Pre-shots. I got to the point where I'd shoot China if she was above 50.

Lantus works best when it's given at those lower numbers!

A BG of 150 mg/dL is the stated lantus TR number for a decision point BG level. It's the BG number that the lantus ISG uses as the number where you stop and ask yourself if you know your cat and how he reacts to the insulin.

When you have tested enough to know when the onset occurs with Claudio. When you have tested enough to know when his nadir is roughly, occurring early or late in the cycle. When you have learned what food does to raise up his BG levels when needed.

This is when all that testing you have been doing starts to pay off.

Is Claudio eating well today?
Got test strips? Can you get more?

You've got plenty of test data Susan.
Plus you are able to test him most times.
Plus you have a hypo kit stocked.

If it's your first time shooting greens (pre-shot is a green number), always a good idea to stop and ask for help.

Since this is his 1st green, hold the 4U dose tomorrow anyway? When do I start counting cycles ?
Even if he bounces ?
I fully expect him to be above 150 at PMPS. Co-operation is not his forte.
I asked him if this is going to be his near normal or is this just a fluke. He wouldn't answer me.

I think his nadir is between +4 and +8. But I could be wrong. Not sure how to interpret his SS.
His 2 main meals are 3oz of raw. Mini meal is about 2tsp of Friskies pate. Take it from whatever my civie is eating at the time.
Have plenty of strips.
And I will ask if I am unsure about anything.

His SS to me doesn't look like Claudio is an early nadir or late nadir kitty either.

Well, at least you know what to do for next time.
Good to be prepared for lower numbers than you are used to.
You know how they say "Don't count your chickens before they are hatched?"
Well, don't anticipate a BG test number until it happens.

Thanks. :cat:
I was just taken off guard by that green.
I'd rather have the information and not need it immediately than need it and be glued to the computer screen awaiting an answer promptly.
Guess I'll be making myself get out of bed during the night to do checks. Oh how I hate to wake him when he's asleep.
