It was interesting to say the least yesterday morning. The local farmer's market was cancelled for the next 30 days so I went to Walmart early (when I say early I'm talking about 6:40, it's still dark out) and the parking lot is busy! I'm astonished because no one is ever there when I'm there early - not this week. After navigating the store and finding just about everything I needed (some extra cat food for Miss Luci) but that's it - there were no paper products - only a store employee tossing all the empty cartons on the floor - it appeared as if the truck had just unloaded shortly prior as many shoppers had carts loaded with paper products (I still don't quite get that)...and they were shopping for other things - but there was nothing left for other shoppers who were milling about the area (btw, the cat food isle is right next to the paper products isle, otherwise I'd not go to that area at all!)...

After waiting in line (astonishing) at the self-checkout I made my way to Publix - for N/A beer for DH and some light tortillas - I encountered a full parking lot and long lines at the checkout. They did have TP and there were people again - however the store was limiting their purchase. I walked on by that isle too...I did pick up a bottle of bleach because it was on sale! The beer was too! Trader Joe's was my next stop - the store parking lot here is undersized and it's chaos on a normal day there - so unless I can go close to opening, I don't. Another fiasco there...crowded store - no one bought any of their lovely flowers except for me! I buy a bouquet there every week! I picked up my flowers and a loaf of bread...headed for the long lines again and observed again people loading their carts with TP...no limit here...so it would soon most likely sell out there. Imagine the shoppers comnig in a hour or so? Sam's club was next - I always get gas and stop in early (Business members go in at 8 a.m.) Lines were stretched all the way to the stocked isles and the staff were busy loading the shelves/cases with products. There was a store limit on water - 2 cases and everyone at the checkout had 2 cases in their carts. I picked up fresh fruit and egg whites - eggs/milk all sold out...or perhaps not yet stocked up?

In each store I asked the people around me if they weren't going to eat out anymore...well not really. I also asked them what's up with all the TP purchases...there was a lot of head shaking and one guy actually said he's usually at the golf course this time of day...and that people who are buying large supplies of TP most likely have large families and the kids are home from school...ok, right...although here in SW Florida these are seniors and are not likely to have any kids at all...much less those who are home from school...

It'll be interesting to see the next few weeks unfold as the virus runs it's course and hopefully we all survive as to what will become of the huge stockpiles of TP that people have in their homes/garages...it'll probably show up on Ebay at bargain prices...

I hope you all have a wonderful day and that you don't need any TP. :p Thank you for your well wishes yesterday for my mom and Luci. I did have a nice long talk with mom yesterday and she does seem to be coming along much better than last week. She obsesses too much about the other ladies in her AFC home - and their hand washing and not enough on her own...I can only hope the manager there is diligent about everyone making sure their hands are being washed regularly!

It’s crazy out there, I went to Publix yesterday afternoon, no water, no tp, no bread, not much meat at all, so I had to get some meat that I don’t usually buy..lord!
Glad to hear your moms doing better
Luci, you be good for mom
Have a great day Sue

I'd suggest you go early - at least they are stocking the store shelves. Later in the day the inventory that arrived from the loading docks is all gone...I found that Publix had no a package of chicken anywhere to be seen - Walmart had lots of chicken! So I think it's just a matter of how fast they can get the merchandise from the loading docks to the shelves - and then how fast the customers are buying it up. There was plenty of bread in both stores...but this was all around 8 a.m. - not likely the case later in the day I'm sure.

You're the lucky one....in my area no TP at all in any store. I heard on the news that people are now buying Bidets....yeap you heard me right.....it was on the news this morning that starting in 2019 Bidets were on the rise and now in more demand and all because of no TP!!

I need to get out earlier too, but I am always testing you know "who" and he has been on the lower side.....of course, he knows I want to do some shopping:)

Hope today is a quiet restful day for you...no shopping!:)

Glad that your mom is doing better. Over hear facilities have been closed to families. Very hard on families and the individuals to have to endure more issues.

Luci in her lemon. My husband did the weekly shopping on Thursday. He said shelves were packed, everything was normal.

I haven't stepped in a grocery store in a while. I did stop in dollar general yesterday after work. No paper items on shelf. No bottled water (which I don't but anyway). Cereal almost gone. No clorox, lysol wipes. Store doesn't sell sanitizer anyway.

What I'm having trouble with even before all this virus stuff, is finding the Parmalot milk. The kind you can put on a shelve until opened. It's good usually for 6 months on shelf. I don't drink enough to buy a quart, so use to buy the lunch box 8oz packs. Great for baking when you only need small amount. Comes in whole, 2% and 1%. The chocolate ones are always available but I don't think I want that in my cereal.

My dad's facility is closed. No one allowed in, but get this, residents can go out. Another facility in area doesn't allow residents out and they stopped flower deliveries. It was a quiet day to work though.

Aren't you just on the 'other side' from me? Soon you know what's going to happen? There'll be late night bootlegging runs across Alligator Alley - people with trunkfulls of TP and other hard to find items - going back and forth from where it is to where it isn't. They'll be meeting in the dead of night to make the 'exchange'...I'll trade you three rolls of toilet paper for a bottle of hand sanitizer and other such things...

I think if you can get into a store early - perhaps not the Publix or Sam's club but a drug store for instance without as much traffic..might have some early in the morning...just a thought.

I know exactly what you mean about the bidet's! I posted that on FB...ha! I remember when we used cloth diapers...same principle...use cloth..wash and sterilize...re-wash...may not sound like the best course of action...but it's better than nothing at all! Anyone ever used an outhouse? Complete with a phone book or a catalog for 'paper'...ugh the good old days! NOT!

Nope..no shopping for me...but my boss keeps writing...his surgical cases have been cancelled for tomorrow...he's already asking me about work tomorrow...sheesh!
