Ok guys we are 14 days post emergency hospitalization for pancreatitis.

Jelly is home and has finished meds
Famotidine .5ml for 7 days
Buprorphine .1 ml 3x times a day

He's eating we have good days and bad. He will only eat boiled chicken breasts shredded and like in low fat low sodium chicken broth
Fancy feast appetizers chicken shredded in a tuna sauce
And flaked fancy feast tuna and shrimp feast

I know y'all said the fish bad but it's all he will eat :( more lately last day and a bit

Sugars holding stable lower but 3.2-3.8

My question is the food ok ? I mean is any food better then no food?
Does this mean we are managing the pancreatitis and does he need a follow up vet visit and blood panel ? Will he always need these meds ?

Help!!! Any advice and experience helpful

Absolutely. Not eating is much more dangerous than eating fish based foods. Hepatic lipidosis, ketones, DKA can all result from not eating or not eating enough food.

You might want to think about adding some sort of pre-mix with added nutrients to the chicken and chicken broth food and to the Fancy Feast appetizers. Neither of those are complete nutritionally. Like people would that make their own cat food, and add a pre-mix with the needed vitamins and minerals. Because basically, that is what you are doing, making your own food for Jelly to eat.

The insulin dose can be increased if the food is raising the blood glucose levels.

You might want to have some anti-nausea meds on hand, in case Jelly refused to eat. Cats that like a couple of bites of food, then walk away are often nauseous. Having an appetite stimulant on hand can also be useful.

Anti-nausea med first, then the appetite stimulant if needed.

Don't know if a vet visit and blood work is needed again. Why do you think that would be needed?

( what kinda pre mix and where do I get it ? I boiled chicken with potato carrot and chicken broth reduced reduced and shredded and warm up before giving and he's been eating that along with the other two things)

He's not on insulin but I'm still home testing weekly. I thought a follow to know if inflammation going down but everything I'm reading basically I manage his symptoms as long as eating and worst case he will need meds again and maybe insulin.
Right now he's eating and more active and affectionate and I'll add all these things mentioned above. Thanks so much

Pancreatitis can reoccur. So if you notice the symptoms and have some medications on hand already, you can try to treat it at home first. For example, if it happens on a weekend or a holiday or late at night and the roads are bad and your vet is not available, and/or it's a long drive to the 24 hour emergency vet.

Be prepared is what I'm saying. Like the boy scout motto says to do.
