Good morning :D

Well, my trampoline boy is super high right now but we're still another hour before "go time" re his shot. After his wonky numbers yesterday, and stalling twice, I will be shooting 2 units for his AM shot.

Unless of course, he all of a sudden goes skydiving and is low . . . LOL . . . yeah, I'm not putting my money on it ;)

Will update the post again in an hour. Hope everyone has a great day!

Well, he's dropped from the reds to the pinks, I guess I'll take it

On the PLUS side, not diabetes related, but I just had a couple of ladies drop in to cut the nails of my other two cats. Jonesy ALLOWED THEM TO PET HIM!!! This is a first, honest to goodness! Other than the times he's been at the vet, and was "forced" to be held by others, he's never actually come to anybody with curiosity. They're both friends of mine from a shelter I volunteer with occasionally, so they KNOW how to be patient with cats. It was lovely to see :cat::)

My boy is growing up! LOL

Awww COME ON man . . . we're about 30 minutes before shoot time and he's at 59!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What the HECK??????????

How do I shoot that? WHAT do I shoot?! This is making me nuts, I swear ;)

EDIT: I am holding off, and will test again, but I'm thinking 1u again if he goes over 60, I can monitor for a few hours, but have to work tomorrow so can't really do lots of late night monitoring :(

Interesting that he's plummeted ... no numbers today in between? I'm curious as to when this drop started...

Well....you could shoot a reduced dose...or skip altogether...either way it's getting to the point where it's going to throw your schedule off for tomorrow...
His numbers are kinda high at other times to skip...so you hold the syringe. If you're able to stay up to test later just in case he's still declining...and have all your stuff for a low, low number...he doesn't have much room for going down...and the effect of the next dose won't hit him for a couple of hours...

Yeah, his "regular" schedule has been off for a week ;) so that's nothing new around here. But I could hold off another half hour, see what he's at then.

I don't want to skip as he's had ketones in the past, and honestly, that experience scared the hell outta me. So I'll more than likely shoot 1 u and monitor

Thanks Sue! Please check on us in a half hour or so if you're able?! :D

I will try...but I'm afraid it's my bedtime...I'm up at the crack of dawn...and often before dawn. Let's see who else might be around to help you...
@Bron and Sheba (GA) @Wendy&Neko - anyone around tonight to help?

I agree it's better to shoot a BCS than nothing at all with ketones in his history - he needs his insulin! So with that in mind - just watch him carefully tonight and have your medium and high carb foods ready...just in case he's still on the decline...if he slips below the line (50) he may earn a reduction - which is ok too...just want you to be prepared for a late night if he's still sliding down...the PMPS food will bump him up...but it won't last for more than an hour or two.

Option number 3 is to shoot the full dose. He's flat, not dropping. A delay acts like a reduction, so you don't need to pile a reduction on top of a delay.

I'm a later time zone, but the alarm goes off at 4:30 AM tomorrow morning.

I'm feeding him now, just a slurry of some LC mixed with his antibiotic. Should I give him a can of HC wet? Shoot 1u? I think that worked the other day ;)

But 2u at only 59? Is that done?
Experienced members, with the data to so so, shoot anything over 50. The size of dose is irrelevant. I shot much higher doses at green preshots.
He's dropped to 45
You waited too long to shoot. Without food, his numbers dropped. That's why there's a limit how long you should wait if they are low but safe. Lesson learned. Feed the 40's.

I'm not sure I'd do HC right now. It's the end of the cycle and you shouldn't need many carbs to boost him. Don't shoot if he's under 50.
