Hi all - I’m writing because I’m confused on what to do for my sugar kitty. She was on 3 units of Vetsulin once a day but her sugars were going up in the evening so the vet moved her to 3 units of Vetsulin twice a day and I thought everything was fine but I periodically check her sugars and they were running on the lower end so I called her vet to discuss it. The vet told me to stop the insulin completely, check it weekly and call them if it went below 50 or above 200. Well I didn’t trust that and I checked it before bed and it was 206 then the next morning it was 224 (no insulin). I called the vet back and she said to go ahead and do 1 unit twice daily now. Fast forward to this morning before food it was 160. I feel like that is just too low to give her insulin so I didn’t...am I correct? Now I’m beginning to think she’s been having too much insulin and I’m just not sure what to do anymore. I feel like the vet truly doesn’t know what to do and she’s just throwing out random ideas. I don’t want something to happen to my kitty. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! *Note - she’s been on the low carb wet food diet!
I posted this on Facebook and now I’m here. She did eat and now her BG is 210. Would you suggest giving the 1 unit of insulin?
