3/10 Blaze amps 113 +3.5 104 +6.25 103 PMPS 114 +2 81 +3.75 74

I didn’t get a response yesterday so I will try again today. Does it look like Blaze needs a dose increase? I’m wondering if we should go back up to a skinny 0.25U? Can anyone offer any advice, I’m not sure if I should keep on this dose or increase.

Sounds like you have a good feeding schedule for Blaze. Sometimes that can be tweaked to adjust numbers when kitty is on small doses.

If you want the nadirs down a bit, and to lose some of those blues, you do have a tiny bit of room to increase. Not sure where the skinny 0.25u is in relation to 0.1 on the calipers, or if there is a dose in between the two.

I don’t want to increase the dose if it’s not necessary, I just wasn’t sure if his current numbers were good enough to hold this dose or if they warrant some kind of increase.

I haven’t been using calipers since we started the 0.1u dose because it’s such a small dose, I’m having a really hard time using calipers to measure it. The ring around the top of the ReliOn syringes makes it really difficult for me to see where the prongs of the calipers should be, so I’ve been drawing up 0.1u to the first line on the right side of the syringe. I could maybe try a fat 0.1u, drawing up insulin to just under the 0.1u maybe? I’m not sure what to do.

Hi Sarah,
Blaze is looking beautiful! I like your idea of the fat .1u
OR you could wait a little longer to see if there is any natural lowering of numbers on this dose.
You have come a long way, baby!
Thank you Jan! We’ve definitely come a long way! I’m so torn on what to do. He’s doing great on this 0.1 dose but I wonder if he needs a little more juice to push him into more greens. It’s a tough decision when he’s doing so well, I’m just afraid to hold a dose for too long if there’s room for improvement.

I just looked at your SS for the first time in a while and your later part of 2019 looks so similar to Blaze’s SS right now. Looks like you were having a ton of blue pre-shots and green mid cycle numbers like we are and you held the dose until a reduction was earned because Tina was staying in those nice low blues and high greens, like Blaze is currently doing. But man, something just clicked with Tina and she started getting into all those greens! I hope the same happens for Blaze. Maybe I should try that fat 0.1u dose tonight to see if it can push him into more greens.

Tina and I will be watching you two!
It was really fun watching Tina lift off of insulin the way she did. My mistake was not switching to a human meter sooner. If I had changed earlier, I likely could have reduced earlier. Or timing could have just been right. She definitely had time to get used to lower numbers!
I love how you are working with that lovely Blaze. I will always love a Tuxedo:cat: They are something special! Congrats on this itsy bitsy dosing - so happy for you.

Thank you Tina and Jan!:)
And yes it was amazing to see Tina just go for it, I bet that was an exciting and stressful time. It seemed to have all worked out just right for you two, and like you said, she had time to get used to those lower numbers. I’m hoping Blaze is getting used to these low numbers and will be showing some more greens soon too:D
Thank you Jan, we’ve definitely come a long way! I’m finally comfortable and confident with handling Blaze’s diabetes and I’m just happy he’s not bouncing sky high anymore and now staying in these nice number. And I agree, Tuxedo kitty’s are special, and Blaze knows he’s a handsome and special boy:cat:
