3/7 Buzzy AMPS 128 = 1u; PMPS 114 = 1u

boo :( he's going at his ears again & hasn't had the antibiotic in 36 hours.
Sigh.
And he's still being an ass about the food. I keep having to give him Friskies mixed with the new food, so obviously he's not getting that out of his system for us to even see if that's the problem.

When following TR you hold the dose until you catch a number below 50 or he maintains numbers under 100 with nadirs in the 50-80 range for at least a solid week, at which point you can reduce.

Right - I'm talking about increases, not decreases.
Although now I've said that he's gonna crash on me 'cus he can read. Look at him just sitting here looking me typing right now....

I wouldn't think of increasing while you're getting those lovely greens...he looks like he's surfing right along like a real surfer dude!

He may be reading the forum while you're not looking, but he looks like he's getting a great ride from this dose. I wouldn't change a thing...not up or down...

Can you try Buzzy on a food that doesn't contain poultry and see if that helps? Poultry is a common allergy for cats.

Buzzy has only ever had poultry-based food, because I believe it was either beef- or fish-based stuff he seemed to have a reaction to in the past. So I remember just like...choosing chicken and turkey forever since then.
Obviously, if this doesn't work, I might have to look at a protein he's not had before. But, then it will likely be higher in carbs...because Natural Balance venison & green pea is about the only thing I MAY be able to really afford/find around here...

I bought some Whole Earth Farms turkey pate & he gobbled that up, so I'm going to try that. It's not AS "clean," but no byproducts.... it does contain both turkey & chicken though :(

It just makes no sense bc he ate that Purina DM for 2 weeks and did totally fine on that (didn't show hair loss til 2 weeks into eating Fancy Feast though), and that's got byproducts & everything junky in it too! Argh!

The only other thing...oooonly other thing that could POSSIBLY be the issue is that I thin that changed their litter from Tidy Cats scented to Tidy Cats Free & Clean around the time this started, which has no perfumes/dyes but does contain activated charcoal....I've never ever heard of a cat being allergic to activated charcoal & he's not chewing at his feet, so that seems unlikely.....
Or he's allergic to the lancet...?! IDK.

Went through a similar issue with Zoot! Horrible chronic diarrhea. We switched from chicken to Weruva Lamburgini. He is thriving with that, although there were some days of hesitance on his part. The carb content is 8% (which was higher than what he had before). Do try eliminating the chicken. Also a lot of food still has chicken in it so yeah have to read the labels carefully.

It is hard to find a food with no chicken. Good luck.

That one is fish-based, which also has high-allergy potential & they recommend not feeding fish primarily :\

Ah, I see. Well, we seem to have lucked out with Zoot. There was not much of a choice, though; we needed to get him on a non-chicken food.

I was only able to get 3 cans of the whole earth farms.
So, ya know...have enough for like a day and a half. Sigh.

But should I just be putting him on venison & green pea that's 12% carbs?
'cus I'm tired and idk what else to do.
His digestion remains fine, btw. No digestive issues. Just itching. So we're not even sure it IS a food allergy

You are doing so great trying to figure this out. I hope you find the answer soon. You will get through it.

At the end of the day, I guess we just keep trying random things, holding it for a while, seeing if anything improves, and move on to the next thing.
So, for now, we're trying this food. If I see zero improvement in a couple of weeks, we'll try something else.
It doesn't help that my 3.5-year old got a random bad ear infection today & had to go to urgent care, so I"m just...done.

You have had your hands full today! I sure hope your little one (child) gets to feeling better. Those ear infections are no fun - I used to get them as a kid - lost the hearing in my left ear and it never really recovered...

Sending hugs and prayers for a better evening! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

thanks - between Motrin, Tylenol, and antibiotics, she's back to her threenage self. Sassy and testing every nerve :P

Another option is a raw diet. I feed my guys either ground lamb or pork. Gizmo has IBD and they are both novel proteins for him. I buy a pre-mix that contains all of the necessary supplements. I make 2 pounds at a time and freeze the food in ice cube trays so I know how much I'm feeding.

Depending on where you live, there may be butchers who sell more game meats. There are also some online options for raw (e.g., Stella & Chewy's has freeze dried raw and there are other companies that have frozen raw available).

I can almost guarantee he won't eat it.
This cat does not touch meat (or fish) of any kind when offered. Not ever. And I'm pretty sure the reason he's turning his nose up at all these foods is because that's pretty much what they are: just meat.
And I honestly can't afford it anyways. I was looking at the different frozen options at the pet store here, and there's just no way.

I do think I need to at least give the "on a better quality food" change a try for a week or two before changing yet again. At some point, you have to give it time to make a difference -- I've just been needing him to actually eat the food. He hasn't had a single day without Friskies/Fancy Feast yet.
At least he's eating the whole earth farms.
