Hugo lost 4 pounds from when he had last been in for a checkup a couple months before and when I brought him in. When we took him back to the vet after being at home he had gained 3 back. He's still skinnier, but he's definitely back to being alert and hungry. I think just now he's eating better food for him.

We also had ended up paying about $2500 for the vet stay. The initial estimate they gave me was about $6k, PAID UP FRONT BEFORE SERVICES. I nearly had a heart attack.

Something that did end up helping me out, was I got a pet cam for my apartment. It was only about $30 from Amazon, but I work about 1.5 hours away from home, so I felt like if I couldn't check in, I was gonna have an aneurysm from worry. So periodically throughout the day I can look in. He just sleeps, but it makes me feel better. Also, I can see which one of my cats ate the food that I left out. It was worth the money in peace of mind.

I'm very glad you found this place. The people and resources here are instrumental to Hugo's recovery. We have some way to go, but it's definitely possible. Be tenacious. You got this.
 
Hello everyone ... thank you so much for all your kind words and help. Unfortunately my sweet baby Bella did not make it :’( ... I am absolutely heartbroken and this is the worst pain I’ve ever felt before. Thank you for all your support through this difficult time. I am pretty mad because I want to blame myself, and also want to blame the vet for not doing enough to save her. I am glad she is not suffering anymore but definitely a very sad sad day. Hug your beautiful kitties a little tighter today for me pls.

Lighting a ring of candles, in memory of your beloved kitty Bella. May some good memories of her always be close to your heart and the joy you had with her be uppermost in your thoughts.

thank you so much .. just so upset I can’t believe I’ll never hold her again. Or hear her purr.. whenever we came home she would greet us at the front door and lie on her back for belly rubs .. my sweet baby :(

I am so very sorry to hear that Bella did not make it. You tried so hard to save her.
