Lantus/Ostilox for arthritis a good combo?

Kitty is currently on 1 unit of Lantus daily and is developing arthritis. The Vet has just recommended OstiLox for arthritis pain. Has anyone had any experience with this combo? or have any other suggestions for arthritis pain?

Are you sure the arthritis is not neuropathy? I see you mention weak back legs in your signature. That sounds like neuropathy to me.
My goodness what an improvement in BGs since starting Lantus!

For arthritis, I think Adequan is one people here from the US recommend. I would definitely try it before Ostilox (Metacam). My girl had bad arthritis. For pain we did Buprenorphine and acupuncture.

All 3 of my cats (ages 13-15 yrs) are on Adequan and also a joint supplement VetRxForPets Megaflex and Disco occasionally gets buprenorphine for pain. He has dysplastic R hip and very arthritic L elbow. I also would leave Meticam as a last week resort especially on a senior cat. Acupuncture and Laser therapy are good additional treatments.

Thank you all,
i need to update my profile. my Kitty is back after being in remission for a couple of years. the neuropathy is a good thought. I watch her but she is much better in that respect and limps a little in front leg.
We saw the Vet yesterday for bloodwork. She said that my kitty was already on Adequan in the form of Dasuquin (orally) and didn't recommend the shots. i am waiting for the results of bloodwork before starting any new meds.

As an aside? One of the things that took us to the Vet when she was first diagnosed with diabetes was the creaking and cracking but once she was on insulin and then off this went away. it's only been since this last round that she has exhibited the limping and stiffness. Has anyone else correlated diabetes with arthritis?

Disco has arthritis in his left elbow and dysplastic right hip and creaks still but he’s a pretty new diabetic. Dasuquin is a great product with glucosamine chondroitin and Adequan is a joint lubricant so a little different (https://www.marvistavet.com/adequan.pml) but sounds like the Dasuquin is working for you so your vet feels adding Adequan isn't needed at this time.

I think cosequin is better for cats than dasaquin...IMO.
