OMG ya'll - this is Edward's first blue AMPS in 2 weeks! :D I hope I hope I hope that he relaxes into the lagoon, and doesn't panic at nice numbers.

In other news... I finally pulled out hubby's calipers, and surprise - I love using them to measure his dose! I feel like this is going to let me be much more accurate and confident that I am dosing him consistently.

I hope you all have a lovely day, and that your kitties behave themselves ;) and surf smooth and safe.

Oh I'm so glad you've got those calipers into play! I couldn't live without mine now!

Right?? Especially with all the back and forth I've been doing between .75u and 1u, I was really starting to doubt my ability to be accurate and consistent. Now, I feel like I *got this* and could even do micro-adjustments to, say, .875u if that seemed appropriate.

I hope you have a fantastic day, Sue! :)

Well there ya go! Look at that purty blue. Edward's starting to work the juice!
Calipers are marvelous! They take human error out of the equation(for the most part). Now, when you see something inconsistent with Edward's #s, you don't have to question, "Was it me?" I'm thrilled you like the calipers!
I hope Edward gives you some green #s today.:D
Have a great day Kat!

Yeah baby!

I know that often when calipers are mentioned people tend to be shy about using them...after all, it IS something else to learn. I resisted myself at first! But I swear by them now...I'm a convert! LOL!:joyful:

And I think they should almost be in the 'basics' of what you should get when you're getting your supplies; lancets, syringes, antibiotic ointment, calipers, wet food...

Wonderful that we have another 'convert' on board! :bighug::bighug:

Thank you, Briere! And a beautiful day to you and Moey as well!

We're in the "caliper club" LOL! And I agree about being part of the basic kit. I had no idea until I lurked upon a condo that mentioned calipers and I got curious. And then in my frustration the past few days, I finally figured I should just give them a try with the dose change. And wow! I don't know if it's all in my head or not, but I feel like I have a little extra peace of mind. Which is much needed, these days!

Yeah! Caliper Club!

I have to say, there are enough challenges with this disease - and every little bit helps! My Luci was all over the road until I got calipers...and although it took her a while, I really do think her numbers started to settle down after I started using them....and especially when her dose was so frequently 1.25 - it seems to be one of her favorite numbers - no way could I measure that accurately from one time to the next - it was guesswork at best...

FOR REAL. I need all the help I can get!

Speaking of which, I think I'm going to invest in a blood ketone meter. Try as I might, I just cannot get urine ketone tests, which I think are necessary with all the pinks we've seen recently. Edward is SOOOOO thickly furry that I simply cannot see where he's peeing. I'm just waving a spoon around under him, blindly, and not catching anything.

I'm thinking of trying this kit.

LOL! I hate to admit it, but that gave me quite a chuckle...the visual of you waving a spoon around behind that poor kitty...just trying to take care of his business...

I agree...blood ketone meter would probably be better..most likely more accurate too.

Oh yes, caliperholic here.

I tried all the tricks to get urine. After the lab messed up this last cysto test, I just couldn't put Ollie through another. So catching urine was on. The hardest part was catching her using the box. But I was going through stuff, purging and found an old metal measuring cup 1/3 cup size. I kept it by the box and when she went in the box i put the cup under her, and cup runnth over literally. Boy she puts out a lot.

Ketone meters are great. Especially if history of them. I don't know that particular brand. I do know strips for any are expensive. I test when Ollie is really sick or off for awhile. It's been awhile though.

What in the world are calipers???? o_O

Ha! I think Edward literally stops the flow when I reach under him. He glares at me and walks away in a huff.

That was one heck of a drop from +2 to +4. He may bounce so, don't be alarmed.
Moey will bounce slightly from big moves like Edward just made:cat:

Yup... I was hoping we wouldn't be right back on that roller coaster, but it would appear we are headed that way  Thankfully, my husband is home and monitoring Edward very closely, using food to steer him. I wonder if his sweet spot isn't right between .75u and 1u...

Yes I like using the calipers also and got mine at someone’s suggestion from Harbor Freight they were about $15 and come in a nice padded case but I just did a Google search and found another brand for about half the price. Here’s the link to the one on Harbor Freight https://www.harborfreight.com/6-in-Digital-Caliper-63711.html

Just be sure that the calipers have the little knob on the top - that locks in your setting. I've seen them without the knob...and you'd have to re-set them every time...don't want to have to do that...too much trouble.

Thank you for double-checking that... I do have the locking one with the knob :)

What a gorgeous day at the beach Edward!! And a swim in the lagoon too!!!!:D:cool:
Have a great evening Kat!!

I know, right?? Today has done my heart and mind so much good. I'm not sure who needed this day more... me or Edward, LOL.

Ya'll have a peaceful evening!
