Morning all. After yesterday's constant vomiting, I gave Moe 1/4 of a 10mg Pepcid at about 9:00pm last night. Husband reports that Moe came looking for a kibble snack at about 3:00 am (he didn't get it). This morning he is eating slightly less than normal and still seems a bit lethargic, but he does look better than yesterday. I am sure hope breakfast stays down.

Glad to hear he's not thrown up today! Small meals a best for that...sometimes they have 'scarf and barf' syndrome...eat too much and then toss their cookies...no fun at all...

Have a great day Erin!

BG at +10 is 119, down from his AMPS of 517. WHAT THE HECK???
This is where he's been for the last four months, then he had the jump into the 200s early last week and suddenly the 500s a couple of days ago. He started vomiting late Saturday night and through the day Sunday. I restarted insulin Saturday night and he stayed in the 400s to 500s. And now he's back to his normal levels. Maybe some sort of infection?

Now I'm not sure if I should plan an injection in a couple of hours. I did not expect this sudden drop and I don't want to go too low overnight tonight. Any advice?

The high numbers may be due to an infection. However, you've been seeing numbers in the upper 100s for some time and that is outside of normal BG range.

I tend to agree with Sue. You should be able to shoot. Numbers are rising from your +10. Get PM cycle tests to make sure Moe is in safe numbers before you turn in for the night.

149 is a safe number to shoot the regular dose. Are you prepared with extra strips and medium and/or high carb foods in case he goes a little lower tonight? Are you going to be home to monitor?
I am home and have strips to monitor. I have some leftover prescription kidney food that's pretty high carb. Also some regular kibble that we feed the neighborhood strays. I was thinking I might do less than 1/5 unit...maybe 1/4?

He was high this morning...I would not decrease the dose at all...he needs to stabilize and needs all the insulin he can get to obtain some semblance of consistency.

I know the lower numbers can be a bit nerve wracking...but you're doing good. Just test and keep an eye on him. Remember the walk down the dosing ladder is still in front of you - which means shooting green numbers.

Take a deep breath...you have support here.

P.S. Any chance you could add the url of your last post to your first post today? I was wondering why NS on some days previously...but I'm running out of steam and have a big day tomorrow...and just don't have the energy to go looking for them. No notes on your SS - perhaps you could refresh my memory? Was it due to the vomiting??? Thanks...apologies that I'm exhausted and don't recall the history.

Moe has been in remission since October last year. I've been spot checking BG but not tracking until his numbers started to climb and he was acting puny a couple of weeks ago. Physical and bloodwork on 2/3 were all clear. When he jumped up into the 500s, my vet advised starting insulin again and he got his first shot the evening of 2/22.

I'm not sure how to link the last post but I'll try.
