He's starting to look like a whole new cat! So exciting to see such a dramatic improvement over such a short period of time...just look at the difference in that SS from then to now!!! Wooo hooo!!!:joyful::joyful:

Hi Sue!! Hope you’re having a good day:)

We are both having a good day again today! I’m so happy.

I know!! :D I love looking back at his ss to see how much better he has got. It makes me very proud!!

You should be proud! These kitties don't get there by themselves...takes a lot of hard work and dedication! Wonderful job mama!!! :joyful::joyful:

I was always worried it would take him months to years to get better, I was so sad and worried in the beginning but once it went from red to yellow I got excited seeing yellow and now that I see greens I jump around and say “good boy hen!!!” I’m one proud and happy mama :D

He's looking mighty fine to me....and I think that's a real asset to getting where he needs to be...

If it takes too long to get into good numbers (as in Luci's case) it's more likely that they'll never reach 'R'...in your case, I think you've got a real good shot at it...

Just keep doing what you're doing...it's looking great!!

Is Lucy still diabetic?? How is she doing?? And I hope Hendrix reaches “r” one day soon! Poor little guy. :arghh: I never thought I’d see the day to be honest. When I first got his diagnosis I wanted to drop to the floor.

thank you! it means a lot it truly does and I try to do everything and anything for him I just love him so so much. And he hassled me for that 30min test so I got a (1hr) +5 and it was at 94 I hope it went up on its own and not because he was upset with me. LOL

Yes, she's still diabetic...take a look at her SS :)

She had her cast removed today...so we're having a big day around here...she had it on for 3 1/2 months so she's having a little issue walking...but I'm hoping she'll be fine after a few days :)

I know that FD is a devastating diagnosis...when the vet told us that, he also said that his recommendation was to put her down...I cried for three days...I just couldn't believe it...and then to try to pick a day to have her put down????? OMG! Imagine my despair...and then I started researching...I figured if people who are diagnosed with diabetes could be treated, then why not my cat? She was a healthy happy middle aged cat...and he was saying she needed to be euthanized!!! Needless to say after I started reading about what could be done for diabetic cats I became quite angry with him...long story short Luci is still here with me today...a long term diabetic...but other than breaking her foot on 10/30/19, she's healthy and happy in every way! :joyful:

Aw !! What happened if you don’t mind me asking? And I’ll definitely take a look I love peeking at how other kitties are doing hehe. :bighug: My non diabetic kitty has a cast before and she did limp for a couple of days but she got better and now she runs and plays even runs up trees again that was a few years ago though!

And it definitely is nerve wrecking and upsetting but I slowly got over it once he started getting better I felt so much better. It took a little bit and in the beginning it was very hard on both of us that’s for sure:arghh:. And REALLY??? That’s what Hendrix’s vet said too I quote “diabetic kitties are too much work and money, and he might not even pull through it, your best bet would to just euthanize him.” I was so very mad, I walked out and never went back there again. Now I wish I could go there and slap his SS on her desk and just walk out LOL. And that’s what I said “so if your child is diabetic you’re just going to put him/her down?. That’s not fair” I’m so happy that Lucy is doing well and she is still here:cat: I’m glad Hendrix is still here with me too. I don’t know what I’d do without DCIN and FDMB that’s for sure. They’ve helped me and supported me SO much, I could never say thank you enough to everyone.

What happened if you don’t mind me asking?

On October 30 we were getting the house ready for our trip to Florida so I'd lowered the blinds in a window downstairs that Luci routinely gets to sit in and stare outside...she was apparently startled by the presence of the blinds and lost her purchase on the window sill and fell and landed on a surge protector on the floor (I'm only guess about this series of events because I wasn't in the room when she fell, I only heard the crash)...when I went downstairs to see what had happened she was lying on the floor looking at me as if to disavow all knowledge of any thing being out of order - I asked her what happened...as far as I could see nothing was broken...I just felt that it all seemed a little odd...then observed her limping up the stairs out of sight...uh oh...I followed her and she went all the way up and hid under the bed...I told DH that I think Luci's hurt her foot...but hadn't gotten a good look...we managed to 'encourage' her to come out and she was holding that foot up and it looked to me as if it was swelling... I called the vet and they said they could see her in about an hour...I immediately took her in and they took a look, said she'd need to be sedated for x-rays and that the foot may be broken...and as it turned out, it was broken in three places.

You can look at Luci's SS and under the tab marked 'Labs' scroll down and you'll see her x-ray. The outermost bone in her foot was completely out of alignment.....and we were to take her to the vet in three weeks to have the cast evaluated...and here we are three and a half months later and now the cast is finally off...

I'm sure hoping she will regain strength in that foot and won't have to have her toe amputated...which is the last option if she doesn't return to her normal healthy foot. She just needs some time to figure it out...fingers and paws crossed. Thanks for asking!

Oh no!!!! That’s awful. I’m so sorry that that happened to Luci! That’s almost like what happened to blossom that’s so strange....she was in the window and fell off when she was sleeping and hurt hurt leg I’m not sure how she fell or what she hit it off of I only heard her fall and moments ago she was sleeping in the window so i guesses that she went to move and rolled off..... and she was limping on it and holding it up it looked so sore she wouldn’t even let me near it....I felt so crushed that she hurt herself I cried and cried for her and when I took her to the vet they want me to either euthanize her or amputate her whole leg and they told me it would never get better or heal I was SUPER upset and said how could you even suggest that!!!!! I’d never!!! There’s got to be another way. So I walked out and took her to a different vet and he put a small cast on her leg for a little while and had to go in to get it taken off eventually but now look at her!!! She’s running and playing she even climbs trees and everything (in the summer) now. I could never repay or thank him enough for what he did for her he helped her so much and was so nice to her. That was years ago now and she’s still here today and playing more than ever. I can’t believe what some vets suggest or advice....it breaks my heart thinking of how many pets they just put down etc without even TRYING to help them....I can’t even imagine. I pray all goes well for luci and that she heals and gets better soon. It does take time but I know she will get better from this! Please keep me updated on her and her little paw!!! I am sending her my love and prayers right now for a full recovery. It’s just awful when our little babies get hurt, breaks my heart. But they know we love them so much and we will heal and help them anyway possible.

So a little short story; I always feed my kitties separately in different rooms and Hendrix ended up getting into the other room I feed blossom in (my non diabetic kitty) and I fed her a small chunk of dry food today because she only had a little bit of wet food left until I can make it to Walmart in the morning for her....and Hendrix ended up somehow getting into that room and I think he may of ate some of it there wasn’t much left maybe a few little pieces. I said “you little stinker how the heck did you get in there LOL”:nailbiting:

I giggled to him and said “did you reach up and open the door with your paws?” He just stood there staring at me like he was totally innocent. I don’t think he really ate MUCH of it maybe a few pieces but I said “noooo why hen why” to myself LOL.

I’m wondering if that’s why his BG went from 115 to 146 within an hour.. luckily it didn’t sky rocket! I was so nervous waiting for his meter to load but it wasn’t that bad, I was worried it would say 200 or something. I’ll be sure that I keep a close eye on him so he can’t do that ever again!!! I usually pick her food up once she is done eating and put it away in a cupboard but somehow he opened the door...

I know his BG will go back down throughout the night but what a little fluff ball, I cannot believe he got in there LOL. He is now snuggled up beside me, he’s looking at me like “heheh mom I’m sorry I just wanted a little snack” boy oh boy :p
