I see that Blaze is up to his old tricks...Mr. Lagoon by Moonlight :) What a guy, huh?

He's looking good on such a small dose though! I see you have another absence coming up....got a good sitter? I'm sorry but I can't remember what you've done in the past...

He sure LOVES to visit the lagoon in the evenings, that’s for sure! But he’s had two green pre-shots since we’ve started this “fat” 0.25U dose! I’m surprised he’s doing so well on a small dose, it’s crazy to me! But I’m just happy to see him in greens and blues finally.
And yes, I will be leaving in a week, will be out of town for a few days but DH will be home. I do have a good pet sitter too, but this time, DH will be in charge. He is gone all day at work and won’t stay up late to test so I might have him give a slightly reduced dose while I’m out of town, just to be safe. He will definitely get the pre shot tests and I’m going to try to talk him into getting a before bed test too. Fingers crossed that he’s cooperative!

Sounds like a good plan...if DH is gone all day and won't test at night...better take it down to a skinny .25 - hope he can use those calipers.

Did you read about Walter and his mom being on vacation for a couple of weeks? Poor fellow ended up in the ER with a hypo :(

It's tough...but DH can do it!

Have a great evening Sarah!

Ya I’m definitely going to reduce Blaze’s dose two days before I head out of town, a skinny .25 sounds good for a vacation dose.

We haven’t gotten calipers yet but I think I will get one tomorrow and start using it so I know he’s giving an accurate dose while I’m out of town.

No, I didn’t read that! Poor Walter! What happened? That’s so awful.

I have gone out of town a few times and have left DH in charge and he’s done great, he’s just not willing to test like me unfortunately, so we go with a reduced dose and maybe even a not shoot number to keep Blaze safe while I’m gone. I hate to get off track but it’s only for a few days and we will get back on track once I’m home again.

have a good night Sue!

I appreciate it so much!:joyful:

and seriously, 2019 looked way different for Blaze. Something finally clicked with him with the new year. It takes time and patience, but you and Makato are doing awesome!:cat:

I am super stoked for you guys :) Blaze looks great and you have done so well in such a short amount of time it seems...managing doses, adjusting foods.

We're in no rush here. After he got sick last week, I realized that I was focusing solely on numbers... more than I was on having a healthy, happy cat. So, I'm trying to relax and just appreciate the fact that I have an otherwise healthy cat who eats well (usually), is easy to test, and loves me dearly.
Thanks for the encouragement and happy surfing Blaze !!!

Thank you Ari! It’s been such a learning experience. I’ve spent so much time reading other condo’s, reading stickies, looking at SS’s and asking questions. I was so anxious in the beginning. I would cry because I felt like I wasn't doing things right, his numbers were high, I didn’t think I was ever going to get Blaze regulated and in good numbers and I was constantly in fear that he was going to die. I was an anxious mess. And then I finally told myself, I’m doing the best I can for Blaze and that I need to not stress about the numbers all the time and to just make sure he’s happy and healthy, whether that means he goes into remission, or he needs insulin forever. I totally understand what you’re going through and what you’re saying. I too, am happy to have a healthy and happy cat. Blaze is so good with tests and shots, he purrs through it all. I know he loves me equally as much as I love him and is grateful to have someone who cares for him so much. You’re doing awesome and Makato is a lucky kitty to have you!
