Alice 2/16 hypo last night, she’s hiding out today...

So last time we were traveling, I think.

All 5 cats now are settled in with me at a friend’s house. Lots of space to run. Windows. Alice finally got back to eating her ziwipeak she had been refusing, which is what I think was leading to some lower numbers, in part. She wanted the fishy-smelling pates all the boys were getting, and I needed her to eat her lamb. Sure enough, when out of desperation I finally, reluctantly, gave in and let her get at the friskies... she ended up with foul diarrhea again.....

Last night somehow I couldn’t find my corn syrup and I ended up rushing to my friend’s pantry for pancake syrup... that got Alice interested in her ziwipeak again for real, once I mixed some. Now it’s “alright” and she wants it again. Picky girl.

I have been sick and rundown many mornings so we did not get more testing in, nor her AM shot. She has had a lot to eat, I have been pushing the lamb, and she was hungry throughout the morning, then went and hid from me under a couch, somewhat inside it, and I decided not to anger her further by pulling her out by the scruff, which is the only way I could get her out. ...Maybe get her. She was really dodging my short t-rex arms today.

Schedule/consistency
Testing

Thing I am doing well:
Managing my best

(trying to be nice to myself, but I know Alice would be healthier if I were back to the strict and rigorous treatment she was getting from me before. Just glad to see those numbers coming down more again overall, and she’s nearly completed her antibiotics.)

I might sort of just be rambling. I hope all are well.

I'm glad you're settled in and the cats are doing well. I'm glad she came back up for you. She earned a reduction with that 33 last night. All you can do is keep doing the best you can for her. She is lucky to have you.

Please remember that Alice's dose needs to be reduced. I would drop the dose to 1.75u or maybe even 1.5u given the previously missed shots and the 33 last night. I think it's your call how much to reduce the dose.

Yes we are definitely reducing, thank you! She has been long-term hovering between 1.5 and 1.75 being a little low or a little high, so I think we will step down by quarter units again now that I think her UTI has resolved.

Just anecdotal stuff.
Hiding in a new place is not new to me. Marco was abused and came from a shelter, hid in the basement for 48 hours.
Where is BJ? Finally found a lump under my comforter, the mighty hunter was not stalking Gazelles.
Funniest ever was moving into a bachelor apartment. Door had never been opened, screens on the window secure. In desperation I shone a flashlight behind the fridge and two yellow eyes looked back at me. That was Leroy who lived to 23 pulling stunts like that, had much more than nine lives and cost me little more than food and shots. Passed away with all his teeth intact.
Hope you're feeling better and be thankful that unlike Leroy Alice doesn't store her mice under the sofa.
What in God's name smells so bad in here? And the house (shack) had no AC. "Odeur de parfum varmite".

No problem, I appreciate both your concern and your memory! She was negative for ketones at the vet when she had been running higher due to infection, but that doesn’t mean they can’t develop!

Oh the hidden mouse! I’ve always been thankful the gingers prefer to present their catches.

I have been vegetarian for a couple decades. I had a ginger who once brought me a seed pod. Meowed and laid it neatly on the mat at the front door. He may as well have laid my heart there too.

Whilst we were traveling, Alice managed to hide herself so completely at a family member’s home that you would never have known she was there. Imagine a bean bag chair but it’s the size of a decent bed, covered in a fuzzy blanket, and somehow she slips herself right under and in the middle..... she’s so slight.

The new cerebellar hypoplasia cats were shut in the laundry yesterday on accident and Spike, the more disabled one, seemed to have had a poop in the dirty clothes then fallen all over it. But that relates to hiding as.... both CH boys like to crawl behind this washer and dryer set here.
