I haven’t posted very often because since I’m away from home most days so I cannot test Colby as often as I should. We ALWAYS test before shooting.

I am trying for a curve today. Every two hours.

We seem to still be all over the place with his numbers and I would love to hear some experienced voices weigh in.

He is on all wet food.1 full can of FussieCat with zero carbs in the AM and also for a couple of small snacks throughout the day (1/2 can 2 and sometimes 3 times a day if he is asking for it) and then 3/4 of a can of Purina DM at his PM feeding.

Thank you for looking at his spreadsheet and offering your thoughts.

Hello Monique and Colby!

That is a very big drop from the AMPS to +2, and a lower number than you have seen so far. Might have been a bad strip-- I would recommend re-testing that number if you can with another poke.

If he's still that low, see if he'll eat one of his (low-carb) snacks now-- you'll want to try to slow him down a bit. And, if that number holds, he's earned a reduction on SLGS to 1.75U :).

Thank you! I did give him a small snack immediately after testing him (reward!) We are less than an hour away for his next test so I am keeping an eye on him (though he seems perfectly normal) and just waiting until then. I will post the result when I have it. Next time I see that big a drop I will immediately do a second test to rule out a bad strip. Great advice!

I just did his +4 BG check and we got a 70 so I offered him a carby treat. (Inaba Churu) He is not displaying any hypo symptoms so I’m not sure if I should be giving him syrup. Love to get some opinions please.

I assume you are using a human meter? If so, 70 is quite safe, but I'm glad you're giving him treats. Those are great numbers he's having, but we don't want him going much lower (the usual take-action number on a human meter is 50; on a pet meter it would be 68).

Yes. A human meter. Thank you for your advice! You are a godsend.

You are very welcome!

I know you are doing a curve today, but can you do a +5? I just want to make sure that he's not still heading down, and make sure we catch it if he is.

Nice numbers today - although he was in a big rush to get there this morning huh? Luci does that every now and then - scares me half to death! She's a championship high diver! I think she likes to feel the wind rushing past her ears!

Glad he's leveled off... :)

Looks like a typical bounce. His body is responding to those lower numbers from earlier today. His liver is dumping every bit of stored up glycogen into his bloodstream to 'make up' for what it perceives as a threat (suddenly some blood glucose numbers that are not longer familiar!!)...just ride it out - give it a little time..the bouncing will slow down...and he'll come back down to earth soon.

Thank you! Fortunately he has seemed fine all day today. No behavior changes. I’m just glad that I was home today to be able to do a curve.
