I just did my first glucose test with a human reader. Dolly’s number was 78, 115 on her pet meter. She has had low numbers for awhile. She has been off insulin (Lantus) since January 18th. She has managed to maintain her weight, give or take a few ounces, since diagnosis last October. When I read how much other cats eat I have concerns with Dolly. She maybe eats 1 1/2 small 3 oz cans total for the day of FF or Friskies low carb. Occasionally I give her Mirtazapine to stimulate her appetite. She is healthy with the exception of asthma. She gets a lot of nasal congestion from allergies which make it hard for her to smell her food. I have tried different flavors, some flaked but she is just not a fan of wet food. I have tried all the tricks to no avail. She has been off all dry food since early November. If she is healthy, recent blood panel, urinalysis, other tests listed on my spreadsheet, do I need to have concerns about her eating habits? With Mirtazapine she eats a lot more. Thanks. Where are the lab results listed? In the Labs tab I only see the template with no lab results added.

How is Dolly's weight doing? If losing weight and you do not what her to lose with then some action has to be taken.

Unfortunately I did not realize there was a “labs” section. My vision is not the best and I obviously was not being as thorough as I thought. I put the info in my comments. I will add her lab info correctly ASAP. I have my great grandson with me today until tomorrow. I will get my account corrected hopefully tomorrow afternoon. She is not losing weight, fluctuates between 11 1/2# and 12# since diagnosis. Thanks for your response.

I do not have breakdown of her labs. I will need to get them from her vet. I am doing all the very best I know for Dolly but have to divide my time time with a husband that went 100% deaf in November, valley fever and multiple hospitals stays for pneumonia. Documenting and posting come last.

Most people overlook the tab on the spreadsheet for labs. To be honest, I added a "labs" page to my spreadsheet years ago for my personal benefit so I could compare my kitty's lab values over time. Unless you have a question about Dolly's labs, there is no big rush to include the information.

One suggestion that may help with Dolly's congestion. If you have a small bathroom and can run the shower and get the room steamy, you can leave Dolly in there for a bit. The steam may help to break up the congestion.

When my kitty was having an issue with allergies, my vet recommended using Zyrtec. Has your vet suggested any allergy medication? If not, it may be worth asking what your vet would recommend. Some cats with allergies do well with omega-3s (i.e., fish oil). It helps to reduce the inflammation associated with allergy. Nordic Naturals is a very reliable brand and comes with an eye dropper bottle that is calibrated for pets.

Thank you so much for your suggestions and support. I run a cool mist humidifier, 24/7 for the last 3 years, obviously not doing much. I forgot about the steam bath (shower) I will try that tomorrow. She is impossible to pill yet so easy to check her blood. I just sent an email to her vet about the food issues. Dolly was on Azithromycin liquid every 72 hours off and on for a year. It was a miracle drug but eventually stopped being effective. I know it’s an antibiotic and used it a few times for upper respiratory infections but it was the only that cleared her sinuses.
