Swiched from lantus to pro zinc

We are still struggling
I had Niutek for 5 days on 4,5 of lantus
And one day hot GG of 591 i have never seen it that high ever high before.
Since 2 days he is on 2 units of pro zinc( so expensive though! $134 supply just foe 20
Days on this dose..
on saturday i will do full glucose curve as now i can only test at 0 and 3 hrs.

2U twice a day is 4U per day. A vial of ProZinc holds 400U so it should last you 100 days

You can get ProZinc cheaper if you order it from Chewy.com

The best insulin in the world is the one that works with your cat. There are "better, gentler" insulins instead of "harsher, shorter lasting" insulin's, but there's no one magic bullet.

No magic is happening after we switched..
I will give it some time but i still get upper 400.

It should last longer than 60 days. On most insulin's, the only reason there's a "use by" date is because that's how long the manufacturer asked it to be tested for.

What you do is keep using it unless/until you see numbers going up with no other explanation. It wouldn't happen overnight.

This is the Lantus group. If you have switched to Prozinc, you need to post in either the Prozinc group or on the Health forum. The experience with Prozinc is very limited here.

Is my cat eating too much if he consumes ca 15 oz per day?
He would probably eat more if i gave him..
He wants to eat twice or more in the night..
Should I let him eat or rather dose it?
Only a month ago he was on appetite stimulant- not wanting to eat..
It is always something new..
Maybe his high BG is my fault - by letting him eat too much?

Until his blood glucose is under better control, he needs to eat more than a non-diabetic cat. Hopefully once his numbers are down, his appetite will reduce too.

Yes, this is probably too much food. How many calories is it? How much does Niutek weigh? What is his ideal weight according to the vet? You should be weighing him regularly and feeding to get him to his idea weight.

Dr. Lisa Pierson has a website on Feline Nutrition. This page talks about how much to feed, as well as how to get them to lose weight if needed.

Gained 1 lb in a month with such apetite
