Higher AMPS than I expected after yesterday. Disco did have a vet visit yesterday at 4pm for an itchy ear, not sure it that would have made the higher AMPS today (his +3 last night was 215) and he started an ear ointment with a steroid in it last night and I know that can affect BG but not sure how soon. Today is day 4 on the increased dose, but I will be out of the house for a good part of the day (it's my day to clean my mom's house) so I will increase him tomorrow to 2.5u unless advised otherwise.

Once again, I have to say what a comfort this group is to me in caring for my Mr. NoFurNo!

Hi Teri and Disco!
I hope the ear ointment doesn’t mess anything up; once I was assured steroid eye drops wouldn’t mess with BGs, but don’t know about the ear meds. Disco needs what he needs.
Your dancing Disco might be saying yes, please to a little increase:cat: It looks like you are increasing after 10 cycles. Modified mini TR?! Hug and kiss your no fur babies.

If you've not already shot, you can always increase at PMPS. (I count 7 cycles at this dose.)

Also, remember to put Disco's name in your subject line!!
Added Mr. Disco’s name, thanks for catching that! I’ll start with tonight’s shot. Can you tell me (clarify) do I need to test every 3 hrs overnight and during the day with TR always or just when doing a dose increase?

I think you are merging TR and SLGS. There's no requirement with TR regarding when to do a curve. You want to have enough data in order to identify onset, nadir and duration. The research for TR was based on getting 5 tests per day. With SLGS you do a curve once a week as a means of deciding whether to raise the dose.

How often you test depends on you and Disco. If you look at my SS or Marje's, we were testaholics. We like data. Gabby necessitated frequent testing because he had an early nadir and liked to have her numbers drop like a rock. At the moment, the amount that you're testing makes me wonder how much sleep you're getting. You may want to consider what the "before bed" test is telling you and allow yourself to get a decent night's sleep.

  • Thx for the succinct clarification for me... I do feel jumbled in my interpretation and recall and am trying to make a file of tips/advice so I don’t have to go searching for it.

  • I usually go to bed between 9:30-10:30 and do Disco’s PMPS at 7:30-7:45 and dose within 10 min of testing. If I go to bed 90 minutes later, is that sufficient time for the before bed test?
I usually have to get it up and pee twice during the night and he’s so essy to test even my sleep app can say I had a 100% sleep night (photo attached, LOL)
