Well, I think Freckles may have experienced her first bounce EVER today after being in the blues last night? Yes? No? (she also ripped a bag to shreds to get to an empty KD cheese envelope but more than likely the dogs took it from her pretty quickly).

We are slated to increase by .5 u tomorrow morning, so is there anything stopping us from doing that increase tomorrow with the bounce today?

Second question to @Marje and Gracie (or anyone else who is on) is why the increases by .5 u once a kitty reaches 5 u of insulin?

She’s bounced before....bounces can be in blue and yellow. Cats that are in green most of the time but bounce a bit might only bounce to blue. You don’t have to see pink or higher for it to be a bounce :)

As the dose gets higher, if you don’t increase the amount of the increase then the percentage of the change from one dose to the next decreases. For example, if the dose is 1u and we increase by 0.25u, that’s a 25% increase. If the dose is at 5u and you increase by 0.25, that’s only a 5% increase. As the dose goes even higher, we change it by more than 10%. Does that make sense?

If she clears the bounce tonight (looks like she’s thinking of it) and has headed up, I would increase. If she’s in low blues or lower, you might see where she ends up before increasing.

Good luck with that increase tomorrow. I hope the 0.5 units increase makes her pay attention.
