Bash’s Mom
Member Since 2019
Hello! I’m Bash’s Mom - Bash is a 7 year old chatty rescue kitty who was just diagnosed with diabetes today. I started noticing him drinking more water maybe a month ago, but it happened to correspond to a change in food so we thought it was that. Fast forward to last week and his back legs started rapidly losing strength. After a vet visit yesterday, turns out our boy has diabetes. I wish I would have put it all together sooner, but here we are. Good news is, the rest of his bloodwork came back great. We start him on insulin on Thursday (not sure what kind yet or the dosage, will find out at the appointment) and my meter and supplies should arrive on Friday from Amazon (soonest it could get here with the holiday). Vet started out recommending that I test at home, which really made me feel like my furbaby is in good hands. Right now I’m just trying to research as much as I can - information is power and all that - so I can be as prepared as possible.
Any words of advice for a newbie? (I know, the most generic thing I could ask, but I’m a bit overwhelmed)

thank you for the kind words and words of welcome! I already am feeling better knowing I'm not alone in this. Heading to the Health Forum now to start reading up and asking questions!
