Back to the old dose of 1.25U BID. Of course I had to give in and give her the dry food. She started by having some nasty cramps that went away after she ate the dry food. No idea why or how. Of course the dry food counts towards today's AMPS value, oh well :(
@Sarah and Blaze , yup you are lucky to have had such an easy switch. As for Chanel, I am afraid that change is not going to happen, at least not that fast. I get that the 1.5U might have been a little too much for her, although I am not convinced. We will keep the 1.25U for this week and see what the BG curve says at the end of the week (Monday).

Laura, are you off work this week? Would you be willing to try withdrawing the dry food and try TR for a week? You can switch back to SLGS after the week - I'm wondering if the numbers you saw yesterday were a combination of 1)No dry food and 2)the increased insulin. So sorry that she fell under the 90 'bar' for SLGS. The 'bar' on TR is set at 50 - so any number below 50 for newly diagnosed cats is the 'automatic decrease'. It's just so hard on SLGS to get her into the greens - where the margin for seeing a green is only 10 points - between 100 and 90 is the 'good place' and anything below that warrants an increase...so as you can see that's a very fine line...if you went to TR for the week you could consider any number between 50-100 to be safe to continue that dose..but of course, she couldn't have any dry food during that time - it would be more or less of an experiment - and your tolerance for such experimentation.

I am off this week but from what I understand you can do TR only if she is completely off the dry food. Now, we are trying to get her off but gradually. It does not seem to work well for her when I get her off completely and suddenly.

You are correct...and I saw that yesterday late you were sorta ditching the dry...but if she needs to wean off due to tummy troubles...then no TR this week...too bad...I hope she is able to give it up...it's like smoking...not good for her sugars...it's tough when they have dietary issues on top of the diabetes...hope you can find wet food that makes up for the tummy troubles...

Sorry for getting back so late, cleaning and cooking, it is a crazy tornado in my apartment (and I am the only one doing it :). The wet food she is on is OK for her tummy, but she had some cramps last night. She had them while eating the pate, any type. Since then, I gave her Famotidine. Today, she is back to lemons and sitting in the closet. I would assume it is the insulin dose that is playing a role in her values and not the dry food to the extent I imagined. Since she is on SLGS, I guess we are stuck with 1.25U BID for the rest of the week.
