Thank you Jamie My little man unfortunately has Feline Herpes:(:( I am shocked But Dr. Pickering said it can lie domiant in a cat and then appear Do you have any experience with this or do you know anyone who has?? I am going to ask on the Health Forum but after the holidays. I just want to make him as comfortable as possible. His eye is really bothering him and I can not get the compound prescription in him for it:arghh: It is liquid and he keeps spitting it out:arghh::arghh::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Wendy Where do you get Ocuflux? Do I need a prescription? Thanks for your help and time!:bighug::bighug::bighug:
Interesting they gave an oral med. My Tobey has had a few bouts of herpes in the eye and he sees a board certified veterinary ophthalmologist who prescribed ofloxacin antibiotic drops (human) which is the same as ofloxacin and idoxuridine drops. He gets nothing orally and those two eye drops take care of it really fast.

I’m not sure why Ocuflox eye drops would need to be compounded, if your vet didn’t have the drops in his clinic, you should be able to get it at any human pharmacy with a prescription from your vet. While it can help with ulcers caused by herpes, the best thing is the idoxuridine. Please note that you wouldn’t lose the latter for a corneal ulcer caused by an abrasion. It’s only to treat herpes.

My vet had it in stock. There may be other brands, can you ask your vet for eye drops?
Thank you I was hoping for a ointment solution He is extremely hard to medicate:arghh:Right now I give him Atropine Ointment 2x a day for pain and Terramycin Ointment 4x a day Thank you for your help:bighug::bighug:Merry Christmas:)

If you can get ointment in, you should br able to get drops. You just want to put them in at the outer edge of his eye and close to it so don’t drop in from way up.
