Good morning
OTJ Trial Day 5 AMBG 88

Boomer's inappetence came back in the later part of the day yesterday so I will have to make sure cerenia is on board every 48 hours. Yes I know I can give it more frequently but Dr Larry believes every 48 hours is enough and would only issue me a pack of 4 pills to cover over Christmas. And I think if I had given cerenia automatically yesterday morning instead of waiting (because he was eating ok at that time) it would have been ok. Lesson learned.

I had an alarm set for 2:00 am to try to get him to eat but he woke me at 1:00. He did eat 2 or 3 bites of food but that was all he wanted. I left him with four food options for the rest of the night and I believe he ate a bit of each one.

He ate a decent amount for breakfast. Bupre is on board.

Happy Day 5 of his OTJ trial...At least his numbers are cooperating. Now if we could just get him to eat a little more. I wish I could send him some of my appetite...too much good food around this time of year...

Sending you big hugs today. You're a testament to a wonderful caregiver if there ever was one, Judy.

Have a pleasant day.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Well my last note re SEB seems to have disappeared.
Wondering whether I should be giving Boomer some on a regular basis?

Judy, I have just gotten caught up on everything happening with Boomer, It is just so upsetting. I am glad that Boomer has such an amazing caregiver that will keep him comfortable and give him the best care no matter what may come in the future, you're awesome. His OTJ trial is going really well! It would be awesome for Boomer to go OTJ for a fourth time :bighug:

Boomer, dont forget to eat your food ;) I hope the 48h cerenia strategy works well for his appetite :)

:D:D:D:D:D Day 5! Go for it, Deputy Boomer! And keep a sharp eye on the other kitties surfing in the lagoon. You have an important job to do, so eat yer fuds!

Thinking of you and DH, Judy. Sending lots of HUGS. I hope Boomer's appetite perks up.

https://draxe.com/nutrition/slippery-elm/ Good info about SEB

I’ve read that if kitty is constipated,

Where did you read that? I've never heard anything bad about SEB.

I don't bother making a gruel ,cooking it. I buy organic caps Open one cap & put half into a shot glass. Add a tiny bit of water just to mix it.When it forms a paste I add more water so it's not thick. I give it to Ravan in a feeding syringe 2 times a week. Ravan does not have any problems with constipation or nausea since I stated doing this a year ago.

He also gets 2 drops of CBD oil every night. It's good for inflammation, pain & it definitely gets my cats to eat. I gave it to Peggy Sue every day & her appetite was great.

So where do you get the CBD oil?

My vets dog has stomach cancer He called Cornell University & they told him the only 2 CBD oils they recommend are EllVet Feline or Paws by Charlotte's Web
I've been using Paws by Charlotte's web for about 5 yrs. I started with Ravan's brother that had cancer. I've also used Ellevet Feline recently & feel they both work just as good.
Cornell tested a lot of different popular brands & said some had hardly any cannabidiol in them.

https://www.ellevetsciences.com/product/feline-oil/ This product has been tested on Felines
( nearly all the meds you give your cats have never been tested on a cat. They are tested on dogs & the vets prescribe them off label for you cat. Cats are not Dogs! That's one reason I do not like giving any meds to my kitties. ( I've had some very bad experiences in the past)

https://drivennutrition.net/product/charlottes-web-paws-cbd-oil/ I use the unflavored one.
Paws says it's for DOGS ( they did not test on cats) but I've been using it for 5yrs without a problem.( they didn't have ElleVet Feline back 5 yrs ago)
I DO NOT follow the Directions. I'm very conservative with any product I give my kitties. I start out with one drop in a teaspoon of water from sardines. If kitty is not eating good after several days I'd go to 2 drops. It takes a while for their system to adjust just like with any herbs or "meds"

My Vet has been reluctant to use CBD but now that he sees such an improvement in the way his dog feels he told me he's very glad he tried it.

Ravan start having seizures last year. As long as I give him a drop of CBD every night he's been doing good.

If you decide to try it I sure hope it helps Boomer.:):bighug:

I've been here nearly 2 yrs & never read SEB caused any problems.
As I've said, it's be just fine for my cats. I even use it myself if I have an upset stomach. It always works great for me too.

Just like with anything, we're all different just as our cats & what helps for me or my cat may not work for someone else.:cat:
