? 12/18 increase dose? Ori AMPS 404

Ori (and Erica)

Member Since 2019
So Ori is getting over a cold I think but she is acting fine - eyes good, no sneezing now, only peeing twice a day (normal for her), great energy. But either she needs more insulin or less. I’ve decided to try 2.5 and get some checks in overnight. I really don’t think she is bouncing but I’ll have to check. Thoughts? She did have some pure bites minnows last night but that should not cause such a spike? Ugh. Please help.

This morning's number looks like a bounce. I think Ori kept going down last night after that 228. I would not increase based on the 404. Dosing should be based on how low the dose is taking them.

Ok - I’ll get some good midday and nighttime numbers and take her back to 2.25 and hold for a few more days. Thank you for weighing in. She seems fine but I hate that pink!

Which dosing protocol are you following? TR / SLGS? Please add it to your signature so we all know.
Also you may want to add type of food and type of meter. Just helps us when we look at your condo to know some general things.

Thank you

Dr. Elsey's wet food and a human meter - it's on her chart as I believe I could not add more characters to my signature. I guess I am following SLGS more.

So she was just 175 at 3 am - I gave her a little food. Hmmmm. I think you’re right - so maybe she goes back down on the insulin depending on her AM? Her numbers were better at 2.0 in general.

Not necessarily. You got a 117 on this dose, which is lower than any number you've tested an got on the 2.0 unit dose. You are seeing bouncing from lower numbers is why you are seeing some higher numbers. The way to get them to stop bouncing is to get them used to lower numbers by increasing the dose. Eventually the bouncing will stop. If you are able to, getting more mid cycle tests will give you an idea of what this dose is really doing.
