TYLER'S JOURNEY #22

Well after a marathon phone call of 6 hours last night, I crashed and slept but I'm still pooped today and really have to go clean up some of the crap from Mother Nature's offering of yesterday before it freezes into a solid mass. Yes I have curling tonight but it will be an hour of curling and an hour of pizza for the Xmas party so not a lot of physical activity required. Trying to catch up on all the stuff I didn't get done yesterday, like laundry and litter boxes. Seems it never ends.

You must be pooped, glad the curling won't be long , hope the kids enjoy the pizza party, you had me laughing my butt off about SIL
Oh my lord, laughing my butt off hearing about this, a wart behind her ear burst, I just can't lol and just picturing the large bandaid stuck in her hair. I can just picture you putting the tree on the floor and telling her to do the top herself, mission accomplished. You definitely have a way with words, I love it.

I went to Walmart and picked up the ReliOn Prime meter and 100 strips
Now have to take Tubby in to see the vet, she hasn't seen him in a year, she wants to see him, so then she will have to give ADW the order for the U100 syringes half markings and I will tell her I already have 5 of the lantus pens. So once I get them I will switch @MrWorfMen's Mom

Hope you had a good day , Diane :bighug: I got up feeling yuck snd spent most of day in my pjs on the couch . Confused my two furry boys cos I usually don't sit down til evening :joyful: Doing better now , except so far no snow :( Maybe tomorrow

Hey Beth, sorry you were feeling crappy, glad you were feeling better. Will talk tomorrow

Good Monday Morning , Diane ❤️ Hope your day has started well . Here I am feeling a bit better and we are waiting on snow that is headed this way . Niece in KC got 6" and my brother in St Louis is supposed to get near a foot today :woot: Us not as much , maybe 3", but I will be happy :) Sending prayers and hugs to your house and extra Scritches to Tyler and his sidekick Perry ❤️

@MrWorfMen's Mom hey Linda just got back from the vets with Tyler
Told her I got 5 lantus pens, the relion prime pet me and test strips she was all for it. ADW will contact her tomorrow to get the OK on them U-100 syringes half unit markings. I printed a crap load of material from the our forum , about everything , such as advice that has been given to us about dosing, the TR and SLGS protocol, everything that all of you know about because you have been doing it for many years. Even told her vets have joined the group. She said she could definitely read everything I gave her, that she would be very impressed. She also said she is call for lantus and her first choice would be to start her patients off on lantus first but because of the cost her patients would like to try the vetsulin first. She is fine with the human meter also. So as soon as I get the syringes I will be ready to go.
I won't drive you crazy when we switch and see the different numbers to go by, but you will be there to help me I know. Please please please lol.
I have been with her for many many years and is always willing to work with me thank god. Just wanted to let you know. Did blood woirk tonight since its been over a year and did a fructosamine test for the first time which he had never had done @MrWorfMen's Mom

I like your vet. She's keeper! The fructosamine I expect will come back in the Good if not Excellent control range but I admit to be being a skeptic of fructosamine tests because I was once told Menace was in good control when she was anything but by my daily readings.....no where near what Tyler's numbers are! Never bothered with the test again.

Of course I will be there to help out but on the Lantus forum, you will find there are a lot more "supporters" not only to help but also to cheer you on.

I'm excited to se what your little ginger boy will do on Lantus. He's been so very good on Vetsulin. Poster child if ever there was one. :D

She said this would be the only fructosamine test she will ever do. I know there will be many supporters on the lantus forum but I love you, I know at times you may not be available and that's OK, I trust the other supporters will know as much as you do about dosing, etc. Its not that I don't think they know as much as you do, I guess it's because you have been with me from the start and know how Tyler is.
I am going to request priority shipping for the syringes so I can get them in 2-4 days
Gotta admit a little nervous with the human meter and learning about the BG for it. When I get them you said you would change the different reference range for the colors on top of the SS. I see it would be just the dark green and light green correct
Also I guess we would have to change that I have switched to lantus and human meter on the SS. I am sure I can change it on my signature, if there is room.I hope I can fit it all in, I know you said it will only take about 3 lines . Then make a new SS for 2020. I feel like I am asking you to do so much for me and feel terrible about it, I truly hope you don't mind @MrWorfMen's Mom

Tyler can be stressed out but you? LOL! Seriously though I get it. No fun taking the furry ones to the vets!

No problem making the changes to the spreadsheet and your signature can be shortened too by making the link to the spreadsheet "Tyler's SS" instead of that long string. We'll get it done. :D

OK thank you so much Linda, oh and when the time comes let's not to forget about showing me how to put yesterday first on the lantus thread when I post or previous thread, gotta give my mind a rest now lol

Good morning , Diane :bighug: Hope it's a smooth start to your day . Elmo gave me a AMPS of 74 :woot: After stalling for 30 minutes I got a 124 so I shot and fed LC 6 . We shall see how the day unfolds . Hugs and prayers to the House of Diane :bighug::bighug::bighug:

@Beth 73 good morning Beth, I hope that little bugger behaves today.
So funny house of Diane. Just ordered the U-100 syringes half unit markings should have them in 2-4 days

Looks like Tyler got into the cookie jar again last night! :woot:
@MrWorfMen's Mom I have no idea what's going on lol, will be getting the new syringes in 2-4 days, I can't wait. Tyler weighed in at 20 lbs last night, so he lost 3 lbs, took forever, but vet wants him down to at least 15 or 16 which I already knew
She even carried Tubby into the car for me, I had bought a really nice soft carrier for them last year, even put a piece of thin wood on the bottom of it, then a nice cushion so between the carrier and him it weighs a ton, and my vet is a tiny little thing
Oh she just called with Tyler's blood work, said everything is Perfect. I told her that you said she is a keeper, she laughed and said thank you. She said when I start the lantus just email her Tyler's numbers after being on the lantus for awhile.
I am down to 4 Alpha Trak strips, so looks like I will have to start using the human meter soon, a little nervous, I will give you a heads up when I need to start using
it so you can change the spread sheet to read using Relion Prime now, and my signature. How was the pizza party on Sunday. Crappy weather today has freezing rain this morning, just really raw out. I miss talking to you Lady @MrWorfMen's Mom

Sounds like as of tomorrow at the latest you will have to start using the Relion. Correct? Best to start with the new meter on a new day rather than in the middle of a day.

Glad to hear Tyler's bloodwork was all good. Now to work on his waistline! ;)

I have to run out and do some errands and don't want to because it's too darn cold here too but it's supposed to get even colder tomorrow. At least it's supposed to warm up a bit again by the weekend. I hate winter!

I just checked Tyler's SS and I gave you ownership so I can't edit anymore. I'm sending you a PM to give me back editing rights so I can make the necessary changes for 2020 and the new meter.

You did it because you are HRH The Linda of Canada , that's how !!! It's 22 here if that makes y'all feel any better ...tho 60 by Sunday :woot: Insane

Check your SS for a new tab Dec2019 to Dec2020. I got into it and made fixes but I'm not sure how.
@MrWorfMen's Mom yes I see it, you did it, so all we have to change is to say when I start Lantus, and tell me how to put the previous day on the lantus thread, and to shorten my signature so we can fit changing from vetsulin to lantus and from AT2 to human meter Relion prime you genius you look thank you so much, you know how much I appreciate it @MrWorfMen's Mom

I started the new sheet as of tomorrow so that the meter switch is all on the new year sheet and will give you a little 2019 and Vetsulin history on it too.

The rest of the stuff in the signature can be changed when you switch to Lantus although it would be good to change the meter. You can do that tomorrow by just replacing "AT2" with "Relion Prime".

OK will change the meter tomorrow, thank you Linda and then see what his pre shot is so I can ask you how many units to shoot please be patient with this maniac lol when I go over to the lantus page I would put the date in and then Tyler's AMPS, then do I start another thread for his PMPS @MrWorfMen's Mom

You are going to do great , Diane :bighug: You will love the Relion ... I found it an easy switch from the AT as long as I didn't try to analyze the numbers . Decided the Relion was now my meter and what it said was what it was . I had to switch a few weeks into this round from The Relion Confirm ( discontinued) to the Relion Prime and it was making a decision that I now use a Prime and that's that .

The meter doesn't change the amount of insulin but the reading you get tomorrow AM will in all likelihood be lower than you are used to. I'd love to be able to tell you what number to expect but I can't. There are too many variables involved to predict it and there is no conversion. Unless he happens to have one of his low pre-shot mornings, I don't think you'll need to adjust the insulin but let's just see where he's at in the AM.

OK will do, I'm sorry for so many questions , will see what happens tomorrow.

Don't know if you saw where I told you I did see how you fixed the SS. Should get the syringes in 2-4 days. Will add to my signature that I switched to lantus , hope there will be room or like you said

How was your day today @MrWorfMen's Mom

Nothing exciting today. Got some errands done so I don't have to venture out tomorrow unless it snows except to put out garbage in the AM. Still got the remainder of some ice on the driveway from the sleet and crap the other day and may have to run out for more salt but I think it can wait till Thursday or Friday. Going to have to start some Xmas shopping anyway. I hate shopping and especially Xmas shopping so I always procrastinate.

I hate shopping also, to be honest I don't Christmas shop anymore.
I might by something small for Ashley. Going to get something for my sister since we have to go there a lot, just to show my appreciation, we stopped exchanging gifts a long time ago. Will get something small for my dad and that's about it.
Are you sure I'm not driving you crazy with this switch to lantus, I really feel bad with all the questions and asking you to help with the SS and shortening my signature @MrWorfMen's Mom

Me too ... our adult son just texted me what he wanted ...finally... and it's not on Amazon :woot: But he's coming home for Christmas so I suppose I'll send DH to get it :joyful:

Diane, as you can see the numbers look very much lower on the human meter and there is no way to know what that might have been on the pet meter so as long as you have strips and higher carb food around, let's try 0.5u this morning and see what Tyler does. I'd get a test at +2 and don't be surprised if Tyler is in the green.

Ok , boy is it different lol yes I just bought 100 strips , and high carb food,
I just added the pet meter to my signature , will be holding my breath until @+2 lol @MrWorfMen's Mom

This is EXCITING :woot: :woot: :woot: Sending vines and prayers your way , Diane , for a great day ❤️ You've got this !!

@MrWorfMen's Mom hey Linda just a question, even though I used a human meter today and still using Vetsulin why did we lower the dose, what would have happened if I did give the 0.75 skinny without the pre shot reading. So it does make a difference if you use a human meter. Hope you understand what I'm getting at @MrWorfMen's Mom

Diane, Tyler has pre-shot numbers that most folks could/would not shoot with Vetsulin. Because the human meter reads lower and the difference gets progressively wider the higher BG is, we can't guess what this morning's BG would have been on the pet meter. I suggested erring on the side of caution until we get a handle on the little guy. Tyler often had pre-shots that were high normal or just above on the pet meter and while Tyler doesn't dive on the Vetsulin like a lot of cats do, with Vetsulin, we also don't want him dropping to the edge of low normal so better to back the dose down a smidge until we get a "feel" for how he's reacting based on the human meter readings.
Normal range on the human meter is 50 to 120. On the pet meter it was 68 to 150 (175 per IDEXX).

OK thanks Linda, I was just wondering, but now that you explained it I understand.
I also added the human meter to my signature Oh forgot to tell you I even had to have a dream last night about the human meter, it said 462 lol I can't even get away from diabetes when I sleep @MrWorfMen's Mom
