Well, we held the 0.75 dose so that I could see how he did on that instead of taking the second reduction on the 5th. I was thinking that doing so many reductions before giving them a chance or getting a curve might not be good (especially after I already increased the dose by mistake earlier in the week).
Planning on doing an 18 hour curve overnight tonight to fill in some of the breaks and see how low he gets.
That (72) +3 has me a little nervous as he also drops between +6 and +8.

Started back on his Singulair today as he has been having sneezing fits over the past few days and sounds stuffy. I am not sure if it's in reaction to all the different proteins in his newer food ( beef, lamb, duck and chicken). We are finishing off his Tiki cat dark varieties pack then I plan on sticking with 2 similar flavors, but I am thinking the dry air on out apartment due to the radiator heat isn't helping.

Looks like Makota is really done with 0.75 units. If you haven’t already, feed a couple tsps of low carb, and I would test again soon, no more than an hour. That’s a big drop so far, forget waiting until +6 as per the curve.

whoops... I didn't think that was too unexpected of a drop. Still learning. I fed him his usual snack about 20-30 minutes after the +3 grabbed another BG 30 mins early +5.5 (120) - he doesn't snack again until 4 am, but he did just get 2 small freeze dried raw treats for letting me grab the BG from his ear ( I've been checking lower values from the paw pads on the ears).

Maybe he just nadired early today. Typically a big drop to +2 or +3 on Lantus means a cycle that will need close monitoring. Anyway, you fed as you should have and looks like he's OK and earned that reduction.

Reduce in the AM ? I feel like we haven't been on the 0.75 long...but he was stuck in the 200s for awhile it seems.
Just curious, if I were to switch to TR- I would hold until his lowest BG was under 50, right? What is the best process for switching protocols? Would you normally stay in one until you start to see less yellows or have held a dose for 6 cycles- or does it matter? It's a catch 21 ...I'm nervous about fast changes, but I don't want him to be stuck or become resistant.

I likely won't change from SLGS since we are making progress now...just wondering when you would know to try a different method if he starts to stall again at a reduced dose or has more yellow than blue days again.

Yes, reduce in the AM. You've been on 0.75 units 6 cycles, long enough for the 1.0 unit depot to be depleted. Meaning the 0.75 unit is taking him into the 70's.

For switching dosing methods (SLGS is not a protocol, it is a dosing method developed here many years ago), you just decide when you want to switch. As long as you are feeding all low carb canned or raw, and can test at least twice each cycle, you can switch when you want. There are many ways to switch. Some go on SLGS for a while until they comfortable with lower numbers. Some notice that kitty doesn't seem to hold reductions with drops below 90. Even if he doesn't hold this particular reduction, it doesn't mean he won't the next time. And some switch when they have some time off or a better schedule for a while that allows them to gather more data and feel more comfortable with their kitties patterns on the insulin. Many reasons, but most of all, your decision on what suits your lifestyle.

ETA: Some people switch if kitty needs a higher dose and get impatient waiting a week for each dose increase. There are probably more reasons I can't think of right now.

Sounds good- and that makes more sense now! thank you for breaking it all down.
